Transport and storage of portable propane gas cylinders
• Store propane cylinders in an upright position in a well-ventilated area outdoors
or in a well-ventilated cabin. A leaking gas cylinder poses a potential fire hazard.
Never store gas cylinders in the house. An explosion can easily be triggered by a
spark of static electricity, the flipping of a light switch or a warning light.
• Never smoke near a gas cylinder.
• Make sure the cylinders are stored out of reach of children.
• Never fill a gas cylinder that is leaking, corroding or otherwise damaged. Ask your
propane dealer to inspect the gas cylinder for damage before refilling.
• Make sure that the gas cylinder is in an upright position during transport. The safest
place to transport gas cylinders is in the trunk of your car. Secure the trunk lid so that
there is a small air vent. The gas cylinder can also be placed behind the passenger
seat of the car. Leave the rear windows open to ensure adequate ventilation.
• To increase safety, close the gas outlet with a plastic stopper when transporting gas
cylinders.
• Only have gas cylinders filled by qualified personnel.
