Physical Installation
1. Install the pump on a flat, level surface with the inlet below the coil drain.
• Make sure the mounting surface will support the weight of the pump and the water filled tank.
• Allow clearance around the pump to ensure the free flow of air around motor vents and to pre-
vent accidental interference to manual float levers.

1. If using top inlet (plenum applications):
• Cut end of drainpipe from evaporator or furnace drain at a 45° angle to prevent pipe from seal-
ing closed against the tank's floor. For plenum applications, use metal tubing, such as copper.
• Insert drainpipe vertically through pump's top inlet. Tubing should extend 4 inches minimum
through inlet opening. Secure drainpipe to prevent easy removal from inlet.
2. If using bottom inlet:
• With tank removed, drill inlet hole by inserting drill bit (maximum 1/2" diameter) through
barbed adapter.
• Drill through tank wall and remove all debris from inside tank and inlet.
• Install 3/4" inside diameter flexible tubing over full length of inlet. Position clamp past barb and
tighten to secure.
3. Install outlet piping.
• Connect compression fitting to copper tubing with the following specifications:
• Type L drawn (hard) copper tubing
• 1/2" outer diameter
• 7/16" inner diameter
• Cut outlet piping to length and remove burrs. Use compression nut and ferrule (provided) to
install outlet tubing to pump's brass adapter. Tighten compression nut securely.
• Route outlet tubing straight up, not exceeding 75% of total dynamic head capacity of the pump.
• At the top, slope discharge line down slightly to a point above the drain area. Then, turn down
and route to a suitable drain at a point below or approximately level with the bottom of the
pump, if possible. This will produce a siphoning effect which will improve efficiency of the pump.
• If it is not possible to slope the discharge line down, make an inverted "U" trap directly above the
pump at the highest point.
