5.2.- POWER SUPPLY CONNECTION

The following steps will be carried out:
1. Check if the power source or the battery which is going to be used, fulfils
the necessary voltage and current conditions for the equipment:
Nominal voltage: ........... 13.2 Vcc +-15% with negative earth connection
Minimum current: .......... 10 A.
If a lead battery is used, it will be placed in a position as far as possible
from the repeater, to avoid the corrosion that the coming off acids can
produce in the repeater. The batteries will be located in a place with
good ventilation.
2. Making use of the power supply cable attachment supplied with the
repeater, we will connect the power source to the male faston connector
which is placed in the rear part of the repeater, considering that the red
wire is positive and the black one is the mass.
3. Before this action we will check that the switch on button of the repeater
is in disconnection position. If the length of this attachment is not enough
to reach the power source, it will be lengthened with a cable of similar
characteristics, making a strong joint and avoiding as far as possible the
excessive lengthening of the connection (See point 4.1).
4. The earth connection which is located in the rear part of the repeater,
corresponds to the mass of the equipment and of its carriage. This
connection will be joined with the earth of the power source through a
cable of the maximum section and of the minimum length, in order to
obtain the equipotentiality of the masses. This connection avoids the
electric discharges as well as interferences from other stations.
NEVER use an electricity or gas way as an earth connection.
