NOTICE: Please reference the J3 Cushion Owner's Manual for set-up and
adjustment of the cushion. The following instructions
pertain to the set-up and adjustment of the Air Insert only.
SET-UP OF THE INFLATIONTUBE(S)
Some configurations of the J3 Cushion with the Air Insert
come with the inflation tube(s) not set-up. If this is the case,
you will have received the following parts:
• Air Insert with a tube coupler at the end of the inserts
truncated inflation tube.
• A length of tube with one
end terminated by an
inflation valve, the other
end open. A second tube
will be included if the
Air Insert was a dual
chamber insert. You can
identify if the insert is single
or dual chamber by the truncated inflation tubes at the
rear of the insert. A coupling connector has already been
set-up in the truncated inflation tubes.
To set-up the inflation tube(s)
1. Set-up the Air Insert into the J3 foam base as
outlined in the instructions below.
2. Measure the length of
inflation tube required
for your specific cushion
size. Do this by measur-
ing the distance (l) from
the front edge of the
truncated inflation tube
on the insert, to 1/2"
(13mm) from the front
edge of the cushion. You
can use a flexible tape
measure or string to take this measurement. (Fig. 1)
3.
On the length of inflation
tube, measure the
distance (l) from the
front of the valve to a
location on the inflation
tube that matches the
measurement taken in
step 2. (Fig. 2)
4.
Cut the length of
inflation tube as
measured using scissors.
5.
Attach the cut length of inflation tube to the coupling
connector. Then follow the set-up instructions Steps
2-6 following.

SET-UP OF AIR INSERT INTO FOAM
CUSHION
1.
With the cover
removed from the J3
foam base, set-up the
Air Insert into the
Opti-Well. Ensure that
the Air Insert is aligned
with the well and that
the inflation tubes are
to the rear of the
cushion. Ensure that
the Velcro attached to
the Air Insert is aligned with the matching Velcro adhered
to the foam base. If a PLA insert is being used, see the
J3 Owner's Manual for instructions on its set-up. (Fig.3)
2.
With the Air Insert
set-up, the inflation
tube(s) need to be
secured to the foam
base. Your Air Insert
may have one or two
inflation tubes
depending if it is a
single chamber insert
or a dual chamber
1
insert. Two channels
on the foam base are used to locate the inflation tube(s).
(Fig. 4)
Begin by securing the
3.
inflation tube(s) in the
channel in the rear of
the foam cushion, then
threading it through
the hole which joins
the back channel to the
side channel. Once
through, secure the
2
remainder of the infla-
tion tube to the side
channel. (Fig. 5)
4.
If the Air Insert is dual chambered, do the same
Cut
for the second inflation tube.
Re-setup the cover by sliding the cover over the foam
5.
assembly. It is best to secure the inflation valve in place
with your hand as you slide the cover over the
assembly with your other hand.
Insert the valve through
6.
the side slot located in
the cover behind the
JAY logo. The valve is
intended to protrude
through the slot and be
secured by the side
band on the J3 Cushion
cover. (Fig. 6)
