Windows NT 4.0/2000/XP Problems

Some potential problems and their suggested solutions are as follows.
Topic
During installation, no
SCSI devices are
found.
System blue screens
during installation
with a message
indicating
"inaccessible
boot device".
Solution
• Ensure that the custom setup is chosen on the
Setup Method screen.
• Ensure that all devices are powered on and
terminated correctly.
• Check that no devices have duplicate SCSI IDs.
• Make sure INTA is assigned for the PCI-X slot
where your LSI21320 Ultra320 SCSI host adapter is
installed.
• Ensure the Fusion-MPT SCSI BIOS is turned on in
the configuration utility.
• Ensure that all devices can be seen in the display
banner of the Fusion-MPT SCSI BIOS at boot
time.
• This error can be associated with an IRQ, DMA
channel, I/O (chip) address, or BIOS address
conflict, or boot order configuration, or not pressing
<F6> during operating system installation at the
correct time. The LSI21320 Ultra320 SCSI host
adapter can share system IRQ settings with other
devices on the PCI-X bus.
• If IRQ conflict exists, redirect another IRQ to the
SCSI controller or move the card to another PCI-X
slot. Ensure the Ultra320 SCSI controller is part of
the boot order configuration in CMOS.
• A virus sometimes causes this error and infects the
Master Boot Record of the boot device. Use a write-
protected DOS bootable diskette containing virus
scanning and cleaning software to check for any
viruses on the boot device, and remove if any are
found.
• If this occurs during the operating system
installation, reboot the system and restart the
installation. Make sure to press <F6> at the exact
times specified in the LSI21320-IS User's Guide.
