- Preload the bead breaker disc using control 21 (a tyre crushing preload of about 5 mm is advisable).
- Activate disc penetration (control 25) and then start wheel spinning (pedal control 15), while pro-
gressively lowering down the bead breaker disc (control 21).
- Perform at least one complete rotation to fully break the bead. The rim bead should be greased
during the spin.
- Return the upper arm upwards over the wheel using the control valve 21.
6 • Tool positioning (fig. 19-19a-19b)
- Press the pedal 13 to move the column into its working position. Press the locking button into
position A to contemporarily unlock working arm and horizontal arm. The tool will move upwards
in its rest position (Fig.19A).
With the locking button in position B, the tool can move freely downwards up to the rim edge or up
to the minimum working height (Fig.19A). Press the locking button in position C to contemporarily
lock vertical and horizontal arms (Fig.19A). In this case the tool will be automatically positioned at
a security distance from the rim edge.
- Make the head go down on the rim (push button 30).
- For correct tool positioning, the insert (B, fig. 12) must be at the end position with the rim edge (C),
where the vertical wall begins.
ATTENTION : Use the handle 37 to achieve the correct tool positioning on the rim.
- Press the block 30 to fix the tool (C) position.
The distance between rim and tool head will remain unchanged till the control button is in locking
position. The operator can tilt the vertical post (i.e. when handling a set of tyres having same di-
mensions) without repositioning the tool on the rim.
ATTENTION : Risk of hand crushing between demounting / mounting tool and the wheel.
7 • Upper tyre bead coupling (A, B - fig. 20)
- Create enough space between the rim and the tyre with the bead breaker disc to allow the de-
mounting tool to tilt.
- Operate control 28 for demount tool (A-B) tilting.
- It is important to rotate the turntable slightly to facilitate the engagement of the bead.
- For easier bead coupling, it might be very helpful to move the bead breaker disc upwards on the
lower part of the tyre.
- To perform this, use control 23.
8 • Lower bead breaking (fig. 21)
- Preload the bead breaker disc using control 23 (a tyre crushing preload of about 5 mm is advisable).
- Activate disc penetration (control 26) and then start wheel spinning (pedal control 15), while pro-
gressively lifting up the bead breaker disc (control 23).
- Perform at least one complete rotation to fully break the bead. The rim bead should be greased
during the spin.
- Return the lower arm downwards below the wheel using the control valve 23.
9 • Upper bead demounting (fig. 22)
- Check that the tool is correctly coupled with the tyre bead.
- Operate the control valve 28 to get the machine ready for the subsequent demounting operation
(performed with the wheel at a standstill and not rotating).
- Make sure that the tyre has not beaded in on the operator's side. If necessary, use a bead clamp
and/or the bead pressing device.
- Now operate pedal 15 until the bead is completely demounted.
- Here again, it might be helpful to move the bead breaker disc upwards on the lower part of the tyre.
- Upon demounting, if the tyre tends to slip on the rim edge, the HELP bead pressing device supplied
can be used (see "PRACTICAL HINTS, ADVICE AND USEFUL INFORMATION").
