Refrigerator
The
refrigerator low temperature compartment can store frozen foods for long pe-
riods of about 3 months and is suitable for the storage of ice-cream and similar products.
Refrigerator
- Refrigerator-Freezer
The
symbol indicates that frozen foods can be preserved for longer at lower tem-
peratures and that fresh food can be frozen.
For the freezer to operate at it's optimum, it is advisable to set the thermostat dial
between the 3.5 and 4.5.
For any further information see the freezing booklet.

TEMPERATURE CONTROL

The ambient temperature, the load and the frequency with which the doors of the
appliance are opened all affect the internal temperature. When the temperature setting
is changed the refrigerator cannot start up immediately because it has been halted.
Temperature regulating is done using the thermostat knob to be found either inside or out-
side the refrigerator. The refrigerator will not work on position "0" - "I". "0" - "I" means off.
It is best to set the thermostat knob on a medium position.
By turning the knob in clockwise direction lower temperatures are reached.
If the room temperature is very high the machine might work continually causing
the occasional formation of frost.
If this occurs the thermostat knob should be turned to a lower number.
PUSH BUTTON DEFROST
For refrigerators with push defrost, this basic operation must be done whenever the frost
reaches a thickness of 3/4 mm in the low temperature compartment (the frost which forms
on the walls due to air condensation acts as an insulator, thus reducing the efficiency of
the appliance).
a) Remove all food from the evaporator compartment and in the tray under the evaporator
(where present).
b) Place the water collection container (for products that have one) under the drip outlet
(fig. 2) and set this last to position A as in fig. 3.
c) Press the button in the centre of the thermostat knob.
d) When all the frost around the evaporator has melted remove the resulting water from
the container under the evaporator.
When defrosting is finished the aplliance will restart automatically.
Important: never try to remove frost from the evaporator by using sharp or pointed metal
tools. This could cause very serious damage.

AUTOMATIC DEFROST

Defrosting takes place automatically every time the compressor is in off cycle.
During these periods the water drops that are formed from the dissolving frost drain into an
appropriate container located over the compressor, which, with the heat it generates causes
it to eveporate. It is advisable not to place either food or containers against the back panel.
For the freezer compartment proceed as follows:
- 24 hours before defrosting set the thermostat knob onto the high numbers or activate
fast freezing, to lower the temperature of the food;
- Wrap frozen foods in sheets of special foodstuff paper and place them in a refrigerator
or in a cool place;
- Set the thermostat to "0";
- Leave the door open;
- Hasten defrosting by using the spatula provided with the appliance (do not use knives,
sharp instruments or sources of heat).
When defrosting is completed, clean and dry the interior and replace the accessories (grilles,
ice trays, etc.) and the conserved and frozen foodstuffs. Then close the door or lid, reset
