Instructions For Use Sof•Care
Read and understand these instructions and precautions before
beginning any work.
If you have any questions or problems, please contact your local
dealer or local sales representative.
1.0 Indications for use
This device is intended to assist in treatment and
prevention of pressure ulcers.
2.0 Contraindication
Air support therapy is not recommended when spinal
stability is a concern.
3.0 Safety Precautions
Review the following SAFETY PRECAUTIONS prior to using
the Sof•Care Mattress Series.
• Explosion risk. Do not use in the presence of
flammable anesthetics.
• Electrical shock risk. Refer all servicing to qualified
personnel.
• Disconnecting the power cord will remove the AC
power supply to the mattress and discontinue therapy.
• Disinfect the Sof•Care Mattress Series between
patient installations. Failure to disinfect may risk cross-
contamination and infection.
• Check patient at least every 8 hours or, once per shift,
to assure proper system inflation. Otherwise, desired
therapy may not occur.
• Medical electrical equipment requires special
precautions regarding EMC and needs to be installed
and put into service according to the EMC information
(provided within this Instructions For Use) to prevent
equipment malfunction.
• Portable and mobile RF communication equipment can
affect Medical Electrical Equipment.
• It is the caregiver's responsibility to monitor the patient's
condition at regular intervals to ensure patient safety.
• Consult a physician if redness or skin breakdown
occurs.
CAUTION: Some medical conditions may not respond
to therapy of this type. Check patient's skin frequently.
Consult physician if any redness or skin breakdown occurs.
Serious injury could result if the patient's skin condition is
left unchecked.

Care Instructions
Damp wipe only.
10% chlorine bleach.
Do not tumble dry.
Do not Iron.
Do not dry-clean.
The mattress cover must be completely dry before storage
or adding linens. Failure to remove excess disinfectant
could cause degradation of the cover material.
Follow all applicable safety rules and protocols concerning
patient and caregiver safety.
Monitor the patient's skin condition regulary to ensure skin
integrity.
Patients with body weight or size near the recommended
limits should be monitored more frequently to verify desired
results are being achieved.
Avoid contact of sharp objects with the mattress.
Punctures, cuts and tears in the cover could result in
contamination of the mattress, prevent proper air pressure
control and compromise therapy and safety.
