7. Putting into Operation

The safety devices installed
A
by the manufacturer
must not be removed or bridged,
e. g. by fastening the on / off
switch to the handle or by using
the Strimmer without the safety
cover. This may prevent the
Electric Strimmer switching off
automatically and may cause
serious injury.
Wear eye protection and gloves
when operating your Strimmer.
Warning! The cutting tool
continues to run for a short
time after the Electric Strimmer
has been switched off.
Working Position
Ensure you have a secure
foothold when working.
Place the shoulder strap
diagonally around your
shoulders. Hold your Electric
Strimmer with one hand on
the additional handle 7 and the
other hand on the housing
handle 5.

8. Maintenance, Service and Storage

Regular inspections (checking
that screw fittings are tight,
checking for cracks and damage)
and replacing damaged or worn
parts will prevent injuries and
failure of your Strimmer.
For safety reasons, repairs
must only be carried out by
authorised personnel.
A directory of service centres is
provided with your Strimmer.
Connecting the Extension
Cable / Safety Cable Grip
(Fig. A)
Fit the extension cable 1 in
the safety cable grip 2 at the
housing and secure by turning
the bracket 3. The safety
cable grip prevents you from
unplugging the electrical
connector accidentally.
Switch on your Electric Strimmer
by pressing the switch 4 on the
housing handle 5.
Ensure that the cutting head 9 is
not touching the ground when
you switch on your Strimmer.
The Electric Strimmer switches off
when you release the switch
again.
Automatic line lengthening with
the motor running
(Fig. A/B)
The cutting lines wear and
become shorter over time.
The wear on the cutting lines
depends on the individual job.
A clean cut will only be
achieved with the maximum
cutting line length.
Attention! Always unplug
A
the mains plug before
working on, inspecting and
repairing your Strimmer.
Risk of injury!
To avoid injury to people and
product damage:
Never clean your Strimmer
under running water, in
particular never use a high-
pressure water jet.
To increase the length of the
cutting line, tap your Electric
Strimmer briefly on the ground
with the motor running. Avoid
applying sustained pressure to
the cutting head. Ensure that the
touch mechanism 9 is parallel
to the ground. The line is
lengthened automatically.
Listen for an audible switching
action. If the lines are much too
short, the Strimmer must be
touched on the ground several
times to ensure the lines are
extended to the optimum length.
If the line is too long, it will
automatically be adjusted to the
correct length by the line limiter
blade 10.
Manual line lengthening
(Fig. C)
1. Unplug the mains plug!
2. Press down the release
(cutting head cover 9) and
manually pull out the lines
until they stop. Repeat this
procedure if necessary until
the line projects slightly over
the edge of the cover.
Be careful with the
A
cutting blade / line limiter
blade 10 when lengthening
the line by hand.
Risk of injury!
Store your Strimmer in a dry
place where it is protected from
frost.
Store your Strimmer out of the
reach of children.
Maintenance
Maintenance encompasses all
work that keeps your Strimmer
in perfect working order.
