• Avoid overloading the generator; the following rules must be
respected if the generator is to perform properly:
- the sum of the power outputs of the machines connected
simultaneously to the generator must be compatible with
the characteristics given in the
- some appliances draw more power when starting up than
their nominal power rating (electric motors and
compressors are examples). We recommend that you
contact a Honda dealer in case of doubt,
- do not exceed the maximum current specified for each
receptacle.
• The generator must not be loaded to its nominal power if
conditions are such that the normal cooling requirements
are not met (atmospheric pressure: 100 kPa [1 bar]).
• When using the generator in unfavourable conditions, take
care to reduce the power load.
Example: 28 A* (* limited to x A by the circuit breaker).
• The generator must not be used to supply power to work site
power distribution cabinets.
• In case of professional utilisation (especially in DVGW
fields), the generator must be installed in accordance with
requirements for "Protection separation with insulation
monitoring and switching-off". Equipment solutions suitable
for the applicable requirements are available on request from
your Honda dealer.
INFORMATION ON THE CONSTRUCTION
OF THE GENERATOR
• The generator's windings are not earthed. This ensures the
system's safety and reduces the risk of electric shock. It is
therefore strictly prohibited to connect any point on the windings
to the generator's earth system.
• The voltage supplied by the generator is regulated by means of a
printed circuit board (AVR) which determines the rotor exciting
current by the rings and bushes. To prevent damage to the
generator if it is used improperly, the AVR is equipped with two
safety devices:
- Overload: Protection of the rotor by limiting the exciting current,
which causes a drop in the output voltage.
- Overheating: The output voltage is halved when the
temperature reading in the control box exceeds 90° C.
• The generator is equipped with a thermal circuit breaker which
protects against overloads. If the electric power is cut off during
operation, this may be due to an overload tripping the thermal
circuit breaker. In this case, you should wait a while, remove the
cause of the overload and reset the thermal circuit breaker by
toggling the pin [1] located near the output receptacles. The
thermal circuit breaker is designed to match the specifications of
the generator. If it has to be replaced, make sure it is replaced
with a genuine Honda part only.
RECEPTACLES
When an extension cable is used equipped with a angled plug,
be sure to use a tough rubber sheathed flexible cable and a
extension cable compliant with IP X4

2. Check that the circuit breaker [1] is
• Do not connect any appliances to
• Do not alter the internal wiring of the generator.
• Do not alter the engine settings: the voltage and frequency
OIL ALERT SYSTEM
The oil alert system is designed to prevent any risk of damage to the
engine caused by insufficient oil in the crankcase. As soon as the oil
level drops below the safe limit, the oil alert system automatically
shuts down the engine (the engine switch remains in the "ON"
position). Use of the starter will not restart the engine until the
oil level has been topped up.
STOPPING THE
ENGINE
1. Disconnect all appliances connected to the generator's output
2. Place the engine switch [2] in the "OFF" position.
3. Close the fuel valve [3].
The generator performance will also suffer when used at an altitude
below that for which the fuel system has been adjusted; a too weak
petrol / air mixture will result in the engine overheating and possibly
suffering serious damage.
MAINTENANCE
.
The engine and the muffler reach temperatures sufficient to
cause burns if touched and to start a fire if adjacent to
