Check before starting
• Check the blade to ensure that no cracks have
formed at the bottom of the teeth or by the center
hole. The most common reason why cracks are
formed is that sharp corners have been formed at
the bottom of the teeth while sharpening or that
the blade has been used with dull teeth. Discard a
blade if cracks are found.
• Check that the support # ange is not cracked due to
fatigue or due to being tightened too much. Discard
the support # ange if it is cracked.
• Ensure the locking nut has not lost its captive force.
The nut lock must have a locking force of at least
1.5 Nm. The tightening torque of the locking nut
must be 35-50 Nm.
• Check that the blade guard is not damaged or
cracked. Replace the blade guard if it is exposed to
impact or is cracked.
Check that the trimmer head and trimmer guard are
not damaged or cracked. Replace the trimmer head or
trimmer guard if they have been exposed to impact or
are cracked.
• Do not use the unit without a guard nor with a
defective guard.
• All covers must be correctly " tted and undamaged
before you start the unit.
Starting and stopping
a
WARNING:
The complete clutch, clutch cover,
and shaft must be " tted before the unit is started,
otherwise parts could come loose and cause
personal injury.
Always move the unit away from the refueling
area before starting. Place the unit on a # at
surface. Ensure the cutting attachment cannot
come into contact with any object.
Make sure no unauthorized persons are in the
working area, otherwise there is a risk of serious
personal injury. The safety distance is 15 meters
(50 feet).
STARTING AND STOPPING

n Cold engine
1.
Move START/STOP switch (A) to the "START"
position.
2.
Press the primer bulb 10 times. The primer bulb
does not need to be completely full of fuel.
3.
Move the choke control to the full choke (top)
position.
4.
Squeeze the throttle lock-out (B) and throttle
trigger (C) and release.
5.
Hold the body of the unit on the ground using your
left hand (CAUTION: Not with your foot.). Grip the
starter handle, slowly pull out the starter rope with
your right hand until you feel some resistance (the
starter pawls grip). Do not twist the starter rope
around your hand.
6.
Pull the starter handle quickly and powerfully until
the engine attempts to start.
7.
Move the choke control to the open (bottom)
position.
8.
Squeeze the throttle lock-out (B) and throttle
trigger (C) fully through all remaining steps.
9.
Pull the starter handle quickly and powerfully until
the engine starts.
NOTE! Do not pull the starter cord all the way out
and do not let go of the starter handle when the
cord is fully extended. This can damage the unit.

WARNING:
When the engine starts, the
cutting attachment will start to rotate immediately.
10. Once the engine starts, allow the engine to warm
up for 60 seconds.
n Warm engine
1.
Move START/STOP switch (A) to the "START"
position.
2.
Press the primer bulb 10 times. The primer bulb
does not need to be completely full of fuel.
3.
Move the choke control to the open (bottom)
position.
4.
Pull the starter handle quickly and powerfully until
the engine starts.
n Stopping
Stop the engine by moving the START/STOP switch
(A) to the "STOP" position.
CAUTION:
In order to prevent unintentional
starting, the spark plug cap must be removed from
the spark plug when assembling, checking and/or
performing maintenance.
