Installation Instructions – Module MH4CFL and MH4CMH
For through aperture installation, pass access door
/ ballast through aperture (Figure 5.) and install as
described.

Plug three prong keyed quick connect from ballast
into platform receptacle. Secure module supply wiring
harness behind retaining clip located on the bottom left
of the ballast door. Secure lamp wiring harness behind
the retaining clip located on the right side housing wall
(Figure 3.).

Install module using top access (Figures 3. and 4.)
or through aperture (Figures 5. and 6.). Align feet of
module bracket with openings in collar (Figure 7 .) then
rotate bracket into place until locking springs engage
collar (Figure 8.).

Plug two prong keyed quick connect from lamp wiring
harness into mating wiring harness from ballast
(Figure 9.).

Install lamp:
Compact Fluorescent – Position lamp to
align center post and pins with socket.
(Figure 10.). Insert lamp into socket and rotate
clockwise until locked into place (Figiure 11.).
T4.5 / 6 Ceramic Metal Halide (G12 base) - Position
lamp to align base and pins with socket (Figure 12.).
Insert lamp into socket (Figure 13.).
Dimming (CNmpaco FluNrtsctno Lamps Only)e: Dimming
is only available with module MH4CLF1D_ equipped with
dimmable ballast. Do not use a dimmer with non-dimming
ballast or damage to the ballast will occur. Consult factory
for dimmer recommendations. Some sound may be emitted
by the dimmer and/or ballast in the dimmed mode. Consult
your local IRiS representative for further information on
dimming, installation or lamp compatibility.
Special Instructions and Applications
Lamping NNote: IC and Non-IC platform lamp wattage
ratings may be different. Use only lamps listed on the
element label specific to the platform installed. For best
performance with compact fluorescent, use 4-pin lamps all
by a single manufacturer.
Eltmtnose: Installation of element into housing platform
is performed after the housing platform is installed in the
ceiling, the module is installed in housing platform and the
aperture opening has been cut into the ceiling. Refer to the
Installation Instruction sheet for the element being used for
proper installation and lamping instructions.
CAUTION
CMH lamps are not open fixture rated; use only with lens
elements (E4CMH & E4LWW).
TNp Acctss and Rt-Lampinge: Top access is obtained by
loosening the top access screw on the housing platform
and pivoting the top open. This will allow for inspecting
and servicing the fixture without removal. In addition to
normal re-lamping from below the ceiling, the P406TAT and
P408ICAT housing platforms can be re-lamped using top

access. A minimum of 10" clearance above the housing is
recommended to allow top access. The installer must insure
proper clearance for access to the fixture.
