Note
1 Exit all applications, log out of the current session, turn off the power, and
disconnect the power cord.
Failure to follow the proper shutdown procedure before switching off the power may
result in system or data corruption.
Refer to your computer system manuals for the correct procedure.
Before installing the hardware, ensure that the computer's power is completely
disconnected. Failure to comply may result in an electrical shock hazard as well
as possible damage to the card or computer.
2 Use the information in your computer system's installation manual (see I/O card
installation) to access, select and prepare the appropriate slot in the HP-PB I/O
card cage (see Figure 2).
The HP-PB PSI card is a single-high (3U) card and can only be installed in a single-
high HP-PB I/O card slot.
Check your configuration manuals to see if your system has a reserved slot for the
HP-PB PSI card. If this is the case and you decide, for reasons such as slot priority
or power requirements, to use a different slot, you will need to reconfigure your
operating system (see your system's administration manual).
The HP-PB backplane is a "slot priority" based system. The higher the slot number,
the higher the priority for gaining access and communicating over the backplane. For
this reason, the slot you select for the
requirements of other I/O cards in your system.
