Calibration procedure

Tools and aids required for calibration of the laser system:
Normal tools
Energy meter for the measurement of ns pulses (calorimeter or
pyrometer) with a measuring range of 0.1 to 100 mJ
The energy meter must be properly adjusted and calibrated. Before
use, wait for the energy meter to attain room temperature (approx.
30 min).
Laser safety goggles
Proceed as follows:
• Switch the focus shift control to the post. position.
• Remove the laser head cover.
• To do so, unscrew the two fastening screws on the top of the cover
and the fastening screw of the focus shift knob.
• Remove this knob and carefully remove the cover by lifting vertically.
Warning
High voltage components are now accessible. Do not touch any
components on the ignition board.
• Affix the energy meter in front of the slit lamp.
• Switch on the laser using the key switch (laser will enter treatment
STANDBY mode).
Warning
All persons in the laser hazard area while the laser is on must wear
laser safety goggles.
• Turn off the slit illumination.
• Set the following laser parameters:
ENERGY
PULSE MODE
AIMING BEAM
• Direct the aiming beam onto the active surface of the energy meter.
Adjust it so that the square formed by the four aiming spots covers
30 to 70 % of the active surface. The energy meter must not be
positioned at a distance of more than 90 mm from the objective of
the slit lamp.
• Lock the base of the slit lamp.
• Set the AIMING BEAM brightness to 1 and switch to treatment
READY mode.
• Fire five laser shots. Record the values measured by the external
meter and calculate the mean of the five values.
• Compare the ENERGY value displayed on the control unit with the
calculated mean. The ENERGY value displayed must not deviate
from the calculated mean by more than +/- 10 %.
