7. Function check
You must subject the portable system to a function check before it is used each time and
every time it has been dismantled, but in any case at least every 6 months.
If you discover faults during the function check, you may not use the portable system again
until the faults have been rectified.
To guarantee that the portable system works perfectly, observe the points below:
Visual inspection
1. Inspect the portable system closely. The portable system may not be damaged in any
way
– which could result in parts coming loose
– which restricts the function of the portable system or
– which could cause injuries.
If you find any damage relating to one of the points mentioned, the portable system
must be repaired or replaced.
Check oxygen bottle clamps
1. Check by shaking the clamped oxygen bottle whether it is firmly located in the oxygen
bottle clamps.
– The retaining clamps of the oxygen bottle clamps may not open.
– The oxygen bottle may not move.
If the retaining clamps open or the oxygen bottle moves, the clamping force of the re-
taining clamps must be reset (see "4.3 Oxygen supply" on Page 15).
2. Check the oxygen bottle clamps for corrosion (every 6 months).
If you find any corrosion, the oxygen bottle clamp affected must be replaced by
authorized specialist staff.
Check catch
1. Suspend the portable system in the wall mounting and ensure it engages.
– The portable system must be located firmly in the wall mounting.
– The red control pin of the catch cross-bar must be flush with the top edge of the
catch housing.
