3. Safety instructions
3.1 Safety information
Read these instructions for use carefully. They form part of the LIFE-BASE portable system
and must be available at all times. Use the portable system only for the intended use de-
scribed (see "2.1 Intended use" on Page 9).
For your own safety and the safety of your patients and in accordance with the
requirements of Directive 93/42/EEC, please note the following:
Using the LIFE-BASE 4 NG portable system
Warning!
Use the portable system only if you are medically trained and have received instruc-
tion in ventilation/aspiration. Severe physical damage can be caused by incorrect use.
Caution!
• Before working with the portable system, you must have understood how to use
it.
• To avoid infection or bacterial contamination, follow the section entitled
"6. Hygiene treatment" on Page 21.
• Do not use the portable system in the vicinity of a magnetic resonance
tomography (MRT) device.
• Use the portable system only for the intended use described (see "2.1 Intended
use" on Page 9).
• During the journey/flight, the portable system must be suspended in the wall
mounting provided for it, as otherwise it may fall over or be thrown around the
vehicle.
Use of wall mounting BASE-STATION 3 NG
Warning!
•
Only the LIFE-BASE III and LIFE-BASE 4 NG portable systems may be sus-
pended in the BASE-STATION 3 NG wall mounting. The weight and di-
mensions of these portable systems are exactly matched to the wall
mounting, so use of other portable systems is not permitted.
