› Remove the bolt from the rear seat-back attachment ridge.
› Position the adapter (G) where the bolt was, and screw it in place using the bolt that you
just removed. Tighten the bolt to 8 Nm.
How to make the attachment point for attaching the grille to the latch striker cover:
Fig. 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12
› Carefully position the template (H) to mark the hole to be drilled in the latch striker cover, as
described on the template.
› Use the pin to mark the point where you need to drill.
› Remove the template and put it in a safe place to one side.
› At the point you have marked, drill a hole with a diameter of 3 mm.
Please note: Check that the position where you need to drill the hole is
correct by moving the pin with its end inserted into the hole in the
cover panel to and fro.
› Use the hole saw to drill a hole with a diameter of 23 mm.
Caution: Only drill the latch striker cover. If the hole has been drilled
correctly in the latch striker cover, it should match up with the hole in
the body panel underneath the cover.
On vehicles with tow bars, proceed with extreme care when drilling the
hole, in order to avoid damaging the electrical wiring for the tow bar.
If the protective coating on the body panel is damaged, a suitable
primer, such as Permacron 3255, must be applied to the affected area
to prevent it from corroding.
› Rivet the rivet nut (E) in the hole drilled in the panel behind the latch striker cover.
› To do this, use riveting tongs, e.g. 1765B, order no. ASE 451 499 00 000.
Screw in the adapter (D) using the M8 x 50 bolt and M8 nut as follows:
› Screw the adapter using the washer onto the nut on the M8 bolt.
› Tighten the nut until it comes into contact with the adapter.
› Insert the tool with the adapter into the hole in the riveted nut and screw in the adapter.
› Undo the nut and remove the bolt.
Place the cover cap (C) onto the protruding shaft of the adapter and then press it in.
