Underbody panel and tow loop removal
1. Remove 13 fasteners that secure the underbody panel, using a flat head screwdriver and 10mm socket. 1 plunger style fastener is hidden behind the wheel well trim on driver side
(see photo above). Appearance panel to be reinstalled after trimming.
2. Using a 17mm socket remove the towloop from the passenger side frame rail. Remove the 3 rearmost hole plugs from the driver side frame rail and return to vehicle owner along
with the towloop and fasteners.
Hitch installation
1. Remove the ((2-M8) 12mm socket)
2. Raise hitch over the exhaust and into position.
3. Install M12 bolts and conical washer as shown. Hand tighten. Check to assure hitch is centered on vehicle.
4. Tighten all M10 fasteners with torque wrench to 53Lb.-Ft. (72 N*M) and M8 fasteners to 27Lb.-Ft. (37N*M)
Proper torque is needed to keep the hitch secure to the vehicle when towing.
5. Attach the exhaust hanger to the bracket of the hitch as shown, with the existing M8 bolts and new conical washers and nut from fastener kit. Torque all fasteners to specifications.
Underbody panel trim
1. Trim appearance panel (2 places) as shown. Obtain vehicle owner's approval before cutting appearance panel.
2. Reinstall appearance panel. Note: slide rear of panel in place first for ease of installation.
Note: check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or
ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
This product complies with safety specifications and requirements for connecting devices and towing systems of the state of New York, V.E.S.C. Regulation V-5 and SAE J684.
