Notes on the power options
Recommended power plan
To guarantee the real-time behavior of your CPU, make sure that you are using one of the following power plans that are set
on the PC by default:
● CPU 1505S: Power plan "SIMATIC S7"
● CPU 1507S: Power plan "SIMATIC IPC"
Do not select the "Balanced" setting recommended by Windows.
Use of additional power options
The following power options are not supported by the CPU:
● Hibernate
● Sleep mode

Storing data

Maximum amount of retentive data
The following options are available for storing retentive data:
● PC mass storage
● NVRAM
Maximum amount of retentive data for the Open Controller:
● 5 MB for the PC mass storage
● 410 KB for NVRAM
If you exceed these values, your data is not saved and the CPU is closed.
Note
Firmware update
The retentive data is deleted during a firmware update of the CPU.
Maximum load memory
You may not exceed the maximum capacity of the load memory.
You will not get any message when the maximum capacity of the load memory is reached. Your data blocks will no longer
be written.
The maximum capacity of the load memory is 300 MB.
Display update when you load a protected project
The CPU offers four access levels, in order to limit access to specific functions. The individual access levels as well as the
entry of their associated passwords are specified in the object properties of the CPU in STEP 7.
Display update with access level: no access
If you load a completely protected project (access level: no access) in the software controller, the home page of the CPU
display shows the message "Download in progress ..." even after the download is completed. The message does not close
automatically.
Check to make sure that the loading process is complete.
Close the display of the CPU and open it again. If the message persists even after you reopen the display, the download
process has actually not yet been completed. When the download process is completed, the message is no longer displayed
after you reopen the display.
