Risk of accident
Each time the basic carrier bars are mounted to
the roof, before each trip and periodically during
longer journeys, check all the screws on the basic
carrier bars to make sure that they are secure,
and retighten them if necessary. Repeat these
checks at regular intervals depending on road
surface conditions and after every 1500 miles
(2500 km) of continuous use.
Do not use any lubricants on the screws of the
basic carrier bars. The screws could come loose,
causing the basic carrier bars and the items they
are transporting to become detached from the
vehicle, possibly injuring you and others and/or
causing damage to property, including damage to
your vehicle.
Removal
To remove the basic carrier bars, follow the
installation instructions in reverse order.

Attaching the cover strips
The cover strips should be used to minimize wind
noise if there are no carrier system accessories
mounted, or carrier system accessories which do not
take up the entire width of the basic carrier bars are
mounted.
These installation instructions show a cover strip
being attached to basic carrier bars with a ski rack.
1. Place the cover strip (5) on the basic carrier
bar (1) between the ski rack (13) and locking
handle (8), mark the required length and cut the
cover strip, using a pair of scissors, for example.
2. Insert the cover strip (5) into the empty space of
the basic carrier bar (1).
3. Follow the same procedure to attach the second
cover strip to the other basic carrier bar.
