The potting kit is used in the terminal box of a MAG 3100 sensor to obtain an IP68 10 mH
rating.
The kit must always be used if the flow-meter is to be buried or installed in a pit or chamber.
Sylgard 517 A and B Silicone Dielectric Gel is a two-component clear silicone.
At indoor temperature the mixed Sylgard is liquid for about 16 hours, and after 24 hours
turns gelatinous.
The Sylgard remains as a jelly, but can be removed or penetrated to give access to the cable
connections.
Pour the contents of tin B into tin A and mix thoroughly. Air bubbles should be avoided. The
terminal box is filled imme-diately after mixing the two components.
Ensure the cable is correctly installed and
that cable entries and plugs are properly
tightened (see handbook).
Pour the mixed Sylgard into the terminal
box ensuring the terminals and cables are
completely covered.
Check the gasket between terminal box
and cover is fitted correctly and that it is not
damaged. Mount the cover and tighten.

that the cable entries are properly tightened
(see handbook). Ensure the gasket between
terminal box and cover is fitted correctly and
that it is not damaged. Mount the cover.
Dismantle one plug and pour the mixed Syl-
gard via the threaded sleeve into the termi-
nal box. Re-fit the plug and tighten both
plugs.
Not for use in hazardous areas.
