Battery block monitoring –
General description
The BDM Battery Data Module automatically records volta-
ge and temperature values during initial commissioning and
recurring tests. In addition, the battery block monitoring sys-
tem enables automation of the annual operating life test, as
manual cyclic measurement of the individual battery block
voltage values is no longer required. A potential-free chan-
geover contact reports the operating status to a higher-level
building management system if required. Warning and
alarm display in the event of deviations in the high charge
voltage, charge retention voltage, discharge voltage and
battery block temperatures of each individual battery block
are displayed and logged on the TFT touch display and by
the maximum 72 battery block sensors (BBS). The wireless
data transmission of the sensor data to the BDM module
simplifies the installation of the BBS battery block sen-
sors as no additional data line is required. The minus pole
temperature measurement via the sensor cable ensures
that no direct, temperature conductive connection of the
BBS battery block sensor to the battery housing is neces-
sary. Easily recognisable status displays through translu-

The red LED flashes at 1 Hz and the green LED
is off: The BDM module is not yet registered.
The green LED is on continuously: The BDM
module is registered.
The red LED is on continuously: There is a fault.
The green LED flashes: Sensors are being
searched for and connected to the BDM mo-
dule.
To register the BDM module
with the ACU module
