Care
3.1
Inspection
Before and after each use, inspect the shell, face shield, suspension and lining for breakage,
cracks, craze pattern, discoloration, chalky appearance, or any other unusual condition.
If any of these conditions exist, replace the helmet immediately, as these conditions can indicate
that the helmet has lost its capacity to protect from impact, penetration, and/or electrical shock.
3.2
Cleaning/Disinfection
Helmet and Face shield
Helmets and face shields must be cleaned regularly for easy inspection and to help the wearer
avoid skin irritations. Use soapy water and a soft cloth. (Do not use detergent, solvent based
products or abrasive materials).
Arc Flash Ear-Flaps (if applicable)
3.3
Storage/Transport
The helmet should be transported in sufficiently robust packaging to prevent accidental damage
to the shell, harness or face shield.Store in a proper storage bag and/or in a closed cabinet to
avoid extended exposure to sunlight, cold, humidity, exhaust fumes, etc. Store the helmet in a
MSA protective bag delivered with the helmet. The storage temperature should be between 0°C
and 35°C.
Store the face shield inside the helmet (out of use position).
For EN 50365 class 0 helmets: Recommended storage temperature, uncompressed in a
suitable container, prior to and between uses, 20 ±15 °C not adjacent to a source of heat to ensure
performance.
3.4
Service life/Discard
The length of the usable life of this helmet will be affected by the type(s) of material used in its
construction and the environments in which the helmet is used and stored. Recommendations on
this topic should be sought from MSA. Shelf life (all models): 3 years from manufacturing date, if
stored under proper conditions.
The date code on the brim of the helmet shows the date
of manufacture (shell injection), not the starting date of
use, as the period between manufacturing and
distribution to the user may vary. Each helmet shows
year and month of manufacture. The year is the number
in the center, the arrow points to the month.
Arc Flash Ear-flaps can be hand-washed at 40 °C.
