Use
The helmet is made for intended use only.
-
Helmets absorb the energy of a blow by partial destruction of, or damage to, the helmet.
-
Even though such damage may not be readily apparent, any helmet subjected to a severe
impact should be replaced.
Do not modify or remove any of the original component parts of the product, if not
-
recommended by MSA.
Do not apply paint, stickers, cleaning products with a hydrocarbon base or solvents to the
-
helmet or visors to prevent damaging the materials.
Avoid areas where the chance of severe helmet impact or penetration exists.
-
Avoid areas where the chance of severe electrical shock exists.
-
Never use this helmet as a vehicular or sports helmet.
-
Never store gloves, cigarettes, earplugs or similar objects between the suspension and the
-
shell liner. This space is needed when the shell/ suspension absorbs the energy of an impact.
Use only MSA supplied or approved accessories with this helmet.
-
The helmet must not be thrown, dropped or used as a support.
-
No harmful material was used. In case of allergic reaction, exit the danger zone and remove
-
the PPE.
Face shields worn over non-designated corrective frames may transmit impacts which may
-
damage the corrective eye wear thus creating a hazard to the user.
Service life of face shields depends on the conditions of use.
-
Check face shield marking to ensure that the visor is sufficient for the intended activity.
-
The face shield only performs as expected in use position (low position).
-
Any face shield that has been scratched, dropped or damaged must be replaced.
-
The face shieds are designed exclusively for assembly on MSA V-Gard 900 helmet type.
-
The face shields could be damaged by some chemicals substances.
-
The Arc Flash Ear-flaps must not be worn in the up position if there is any risk of molten
-
metal splashes.
If protection against high speed particles at extremes of temperature is required, then the
-
selected eye protector should be marked with the letter T immediately after the impact letter
(BT). If the impact letter is not followed by the letter T then the eye protector shall only be
used against high speed particles at room temperature.
While the helmet and the accessories can be used at temperatures up to -30 °C, do not
-
adjust arc flash ear-flaps in temperatures of -10 °C and below.
Protection can be reduced because of aging or inappropriate cleaning method, insulating is
-
limited depending on conditions of use.

2.1
Helmet Adjustment
The helmet must be adjusted to the size of the user's head to ensure adequate protection. Size
GB
range with Fas-Trac III harness: 52 cm to 63 cm.
When adjusted, the helmet must fit without tipping or shifting.
(1)
Push top crown strap towards top of helmet.
(2)
Place helmet on head and push down until a comfortable wearing height is reached.
(3)
To ensure that headbands are compatible with head height and to get the preferred upward
vision (change of vision angle), adjust the helmet wearing height if necessary by
repositioning the headband clips within the suspensions as shown in Fig. 1.
(4)
When the helmet is on the head, adjust the horizontal position of the helmet by sliding the
headband clips along the headband to ensure the face shield correctly fits over corrective
spectacles worn underneath. (see Fig. 2).
(5)
Turn knob counter-clockwise to open ratchet band to its maximum size.
Turn knob clockwise to tighten and fit (Figure 3).
(6)
The helmet must be worn the peak facing forward.
2.2
Face Shield Adjustment
(1)
Lower the visor with one hand as shown in Fig 4.
(2)
To raise the visor, pull the visor slightly towards the face first, then push the visor up with
one hand placed centrally on the visor bill (see Fig. 5).
6
The visor moves into the final position by itself.
