With pleated filter facing outward,
align tabs at bottom of filter frame
assembly with slots in bottom of dirt
cup.
Snap filter frame into place.

Final filter
Disconnect cleaner from electrical
outlet. Do not operate cleaner
without dirt cup or filters in place.
Remove dirt cup as described in
Fig. 3-2.
Remove black foam filter (A) from
underneath tabs. Rinse foam filter
under cold water.
Allow filter to air dry for 24 hours
before replacing filter into cleaner.
Reposition filter by inserting under
tabs on back of housing.
What to buy
When purchasing a new final filter,
ask for HOOVER filter package No.
40110-013 (filter part No.
1BEB124710000).

Place bottom of dirt cup into cleaner
body first. Pivot cup into cleaner
body.
Belt replacement
The belt is located under the cleaner
hood and should be checked from
time to time to be sure it is in good
condition.
When to replace
Disconnect cleaner from electrical
outlet. WARNING: Agitator brush
roll can start suddenly. Unplug
cleaner before replacing belt.
To check the belt, remove hood as
shown in Items 3-11 through 3-13.
Replace belt if it is stretched, cut or
broken.
What to buy
To assure effective operation, use
only genuine HOOVER belts with
your cleaner. When purchasing a
new belt, ask for HOOVER belt
package No. 40201-280 (belt part
No. 2BEB120800300).

Press on dirt cup release button
while firmly pressing on dirt cup.
Release button in order for it to
return to proper position and lock
the dirt cup into place.
Do not operate cleaner without
dirt cup or filters in place.

Replacing flat belt
Disconnect cleaner from electrical
outlet.
Put agitator brush roll in the
HARD FLOOR position.
WARNING: Agitator brush roll can
start suddenly. Unplug cleaner
before replacing belt.
Lay cleaner flat with bottom of
cleaner facing up as shown.
