Get to Know Your Carpentry Chainsaw
Angle-of-Attack Adjustment Lever: Allows
for 5° angle adjustment of the guide bar and
saw chain.
Anti-Splinter Plate: Reduces the splintering
from the chainsawing action on the top side of
the work piece.
Auxiliary Handle: Secondary handle for
extra control, to be installed near the front left
of the foot plate
Bar-Tip Guard Screw: Ties guide bar to bar-
tip guard.
Bar-tip guard: Covers the kickback zone on
the tip of the guide bar.
Brush Cap: Covers and protects the carbon
brushes.
Calibrated Bevel Quadrant: Allows for 60°
of bevel and adjustment of the zero setting.
Chain-Oil Tank: Contains the bar-and-chain
oil and provides a view the oil level.
Chain Barrier: Barrier on the back of the
saw chain to help reduce the risk of the chain
becoming pinched or bound by the workpiece
closing on the saw chain and guide bar or
coming into contact with the operator.
Chain Oil-Tank Cap: Seals the oil tank.
Chain Sheath: The chain sheath keeps the
operator from contacting the cutters of the saw
chain when the tool is not in use. It also helps
keep the saw chain Cutters from being nicked
or damaged when the tool is in transport and
storage.
Chain-Tensioning Knob: Permits precise
adjustment of saw chain tension.

Drive Sprocket: The gear that drives the
saw chain
Foot Plate: Assists in accurate cutting; the
foot plate supports the saw on the work piece
Front Bevel Lever: Locks the saw at the
desired bevel angle
Guide Bar: Supports and guides the saw
chain.
Guide-Bar-Clamping Knob: Connects to
the bar-clamping plate and provides toolless
adjustment.
Guide-Bar-Clamping

bar with the proper tension.
Lock-off Button: Helps to prevent accidental
or unauthorized activating of the trigger
switch. It must be depressed before the
trigger switch can be activated.
Main handle: The support handle located
toward the rear of the motor housing and on
which the power switch is located.
Rafter Hook: Permits hanging the carpentry
saw from a rafter or saw-horse while the saw
is not in use.
Saw Chain: A loop of saw chain having
cutting teeth that cut the wood when it is
driven by the drive-sprocket and supported
by the guide bar.
Swivel Dust Elbow: Directs dust away.
Trigger Switch: Turns the saw On and Off.
Worm-Drive Oil Plug: Refer to "Replace
Worm Drive Oil" Section.
