ASSEMBLING THE NEW GUIDE BAR AND
SAW CHAIN (FIG. 13)
1. Ensure that the tool is disconnected from
the power source, allow the saw to cool
and then tighten the oil tank cap. Follow
Disassembly instructions if necessary.
2. Lay the new saw chain in a loop on a flat
surface and straighten any kinks.
3. Place the chain drive links into the guide-
bar groove. Position the saw chain so
there is a loop at the tail of the guide bar
4. Ensure that the cutters will be oriented to
cut as the saw chain moves up the front of
the guide bar when installed on the tool.
5. Hold the saw chain in position on the
guide bar and position the bar and chain
assembly through the bottom of the foot
plate.
6. Maneuver the nose of the bar and chain
into the nose-cap and place the drive links
around the drive sprocket.

When looping the saw chain onto the sprocket,
make sure that the direction of the arrows on
the saw chain will correspond to the direction
of the arrow on the housing and on the bar-
clamping plate and on the chain barrier. If they
face in opposite directions, turn over the saw
chain and guide bar assembly.
7. Place the guide bar on the mounting
surface by sliding the guide-bar slot over
the alignment features, making sure that
the tension-adjusting pin is inserted in the
left-side hole in the tail of the guide bar
(Fig. 13).
8. Replace the bar-clamping plate and
tighten the bar-clamping knob by turning
it clockwise.
NOTICE: To extend the guide-bar life, invert
the guide bar occasionally.
