CARBON BRUSHES (FIG. 25)
The brushes and commutator in your tool
have been engineered for many hours of
dependable service.
To maintain peak efficiency of the motor, we
recommend that the brushes be examined
every two to six months.
The brushes should be free from dust and dirt.
Brushes should be replaced when they have
worn down to 3/16" in length. The brushes
should slide freely in and out of the holders
without sticking.
To check brushes:
1. Disconnect the plug from the power source.

TRANSPORTING AND STORAGE

Always disconnect the power cord from the
power source before storing or transporting
the carpentry chain saw.
Clean the carpentry chainsaw thoroughly
before storing.
The guide-bar sheath may be attached to the
guide bar during storage, or it may be stowed
in the compartment designed for that purpose.
The auxiliary handle may be moved from the
in-use position to the top-right corner of the
foot and placed in the storage position in the
stand for a more compact storage option.

2. Unscrew the brush caps with a flat-head
screw driver and remove the brushes; note
which way they face, so that the brushes
can be returned in their original position.
3. Clean the brush holder openings with
compressed air or a clean cloth and
replace the brushes and caps.
Only genuine SKILSAW replacement brushes
specially designed for your tool should be used.
BEARINGS
Bearings that become noisy (due to heavy
load or cutting very abrasive material) should
be replaced at once to avoid overheating or
motor failure. Please contact your nearest
authorized service center.

Store the saw in in its stand indoors, in a dry
place that is locked and/or inaccessible to
children.
Keep away from corrosive agents such as
garden chemicals and de-icing salts.
It is normal for excess bar oil to drip minimally
from the chain and guide bar; do not store
your saw on a finished surface that oil can
damage. To prevent seepage, empty the oil
tank after each use, and then run for one
minute. When storing the tool for a long period
of time, be sure the chain is lightly lubricated;
this will prevent rust on the chain and bar
sprocket.
