Coffee brewer unit
The coffee brewer unit (13) Fig. 5, should be cleaned after having consumed two containers of coffee beans or,
in any case, at least once a week.
Switch the machine off by pressing button (22) and unplug it. Remove the vapour collecting canister (2) and open
the service door (12) after rotating the steam nozzle anti-clockwise holding the cappuccino maker (5a), Fig.5.
Then remove the coffee grounds collection tray (1).
In order to extract the coffee brewer unit (13), grasp the handle, pull the lever (L) and lift it out. The coffee brewer
unit should be washed under running water without using any detergent. Extract the removable tray (1a),
rinse under the tap and dry it carefully.
The machine is equipped with a key (B) in order to detach the filter (N) from the coffee brewer unit Fig. 6. This
operation should be carried out when you notice that the coffee has difficulty in coming out. Insert the key into
the nut (M) above the coffee brewer unit and turn until it is possible to grasp the filter and extract it by pulling it
down. Hold the filter against the light in order to check whether the filter holes are blocked. If they are blocked,
clean them with a pin.
After having cleaned the filter, check whether the hole at the centre of the nozzle (U) is blocked Fig. 8. The nozzle can
be seen by looking at the coffee brewer unit (13) from beneath or turning it over, after having removed the filter, and is
easy to recognize as it is white Fig. 8. A tool (C) has been provided Fig. 1, equipped with a pin that should be inserted
into the hole at the centre of the nozzle. As the cleaning operation is completed, reinsert the filter screw (N) Fig. 6 in the
hole (V) Fig. 8 and tighten the nut (M) using spanner (B) until the filter is safely secured in its housing.
The key (B) can be used in order to manually rotate the coffee brewer unit in order to clean all of its components
more thoroughly; after having restored it to a vertical position, insert the key (B) into the rotation bushing (Q) Fig.
7, making sure that the mark (P) on the key corresponds to the plastic tooth (R). Turn the key in a clockwise or
anti-clockwise direction and clean the areas that need cleaning.
Return the bushing (Q) to its original position once you have finished: the mark on the key (B) should be lined up
with the plastic tooth (R) again.
Be very careful when carrying out the above operation, since if the coffee brewer unit is not returned to its exact
position, it is very difficult to replace it in the machine.
To reinstall the brewing unit onto the machine it is necessary to locate, the pin (H) and connector (T) Fig. 9, inside
the appliance. Insert the removable tray (1a) first, aligning the hole (E) with the pin (H) Fig. 11; holding the brewing
unit by its handle, insert it into the appliance Fig. 10. Carefully insert the brewing unit tube (O) inside the connector
(T), and the hole (F) onto the pin (H) Fig. 10; push downwards so that the brewing unit bushing (Q) Fig. 7 is well
inserted through the fitting (S) Fig. 9. Ensure the unit is secured inside its housing. Insert the collection tray back
into its housing, shut the service door, and reposition the drip pan.
WARNING: if the warning light (19) comes on after having switched on the machine Fig. 2, you should switch
the machine off again. Check that the coffee brewer unit and the coffee grounds collection tray have been cor-
rectly inserted.
IMPORTANT: never wash the coffee maker components in the dishwasher.
If the control light is on after the on/off switch has been pressed, check that the door is properly closed and that
the internal brewer unit is inserted correctly.
In the event it is impossible to put the brewer unit back into position, follow these directions: close the door and
turn on the machine without inserting the unit. Wait 30 seconds, during which the machine will carrying out an
automatic repositioning of the coupling (Fig. 9-S). Afterwards, insert it again as described above.
