not need any maintenance. Refer to an Authorized Assistance Centre if any problems arise.
Coffee spout
If the coffee spout holes are clogged, all you have to do is unclog them with a toothpick.
Steam Spout (5)
Clean the steam spout and the cappuccino maker (5a) after each use. To clean more thoroughly, unscrew the
cappuccino maker (5a) from time to time and wash it under running water then screw it back on to the steam
spout.
Descaling removes lime scale incrustations from all the surfaces and holes through which water passes, thereby
ensuring that the valves, heating units and other important components work properly. Only descale the machine
using the KENWOOD product provided with it in 25 g. sachets. Once your supply has run out, you may purchase
these sachets from retail outlets and Authorized Assistance Centres.
Never use vinegar as this could damage the appliance.
IMPORTANT: periodical descaling protects the machine from expensive repair work. The guarantee does not
cover damage due to insufficient cleaning, incorrect use or non-observance of the instructions for use.
The lime scale cleaning must be carried out approx. every 800 coffees. An internal control system monitors when
such amount has been reached. When this happens, the warning lights (19, 20, 21) and the push-buttons (23)
start blinking as soon as the machine is switched on.
This signal will now be repeated every time the appliance is switched on.
You may now act in two different ways:
a) postpone the descaling procedure. By keeping one of the coffee buttons (24, 25) pressed down on the
control panel, the machine will be ready for normal use again. Attention: we do not recommend postponing
the descaling procedure for more than 3 times after the initial indication.
b) Start up the descaling procedure:
-
switch the machine off and unplug it from the electric socket
-
Dissolve the content of two sachet of KENWOOD anti-lime scale solution in 2 litres of water.
-
extract the tank from the machine, pour the prepared solution into it and replace it
-
position a container with a capacity of at least 400 cc under the coffee spout
-
switch the machine back on and, when the lights flash, start up the washing cycle by pressing the "steam"
(26) and "2 cups" (23) buttons at the same time for 2 seconds
-
after starting up the washing cycle, the light on button (23) will flash continuously in order to indicate that
the cycle is underway it is not possible to switch off the machine by pressing button (22) during this cycle
and all the function buttons are disabled, with only the warning lights remaining active. In the case of a
power cut or the machine being unplugged by accident, it will be necessary to repeat the entire washing
cycle from the very beginning.
In around 25 minutes, the machine will drain out the water used during the washing cycle through the coffee brewer
unit (4) in quantities of around 400 cc four times, with 5 minute breaks between one lot and the next.
-
After the fourth time the descaling liquid is drained out, the lights will begin to flash again. Without switching
off the machine, remove the tank, pour the remaining solution rinse the tank thoroughly and top it up with
2 litres of tap water. Replace the tank and keep the two "steam" (26) and "2 cups" (23) buttons pressed
down at the same time in order to start the rinsing procedure, which will be carried out in the same way
as the previous washing cycle.
-
Once the rinsing cycle is completed, the "2 cups" (23) button light will switch off and the machine will be
ready for normal use again.
