It is possible to carry out the washing cycle even when not directly requested by the machine, by proceeding as
follows:

when the machine is on standby, check that the coffee ready light (21) is on, then keep the "steam" (26)
and "two cups" (23) buttons pressed down;

then follow the instructions as given above.
