4. Operating Mode

For many years now doctors, therapists and clinics have successfully been ma-
king use of the Original NOVAFON® instrument in their treatment of various
forms of medical complaints. Used by patients themselves, it has proved itself
to be a positive, supporting and continuing treatment adopted in the remedy
of a variety of chronic and mild complaints as well as in preventative care.
Sound waves
The NOVAFON® instrument produces intrasonic waves in a mix frequency of
between 100 and 400 Hertz (main frequency 100 Hz). Thus, the frequency
span is within audible range, the frequency being the amount of vibrations per
second. Healthy human cells also vibrate within audible range. As a result, a
feature of the NOVAFON® instrument is to actively stimulate the cells' own
natural vibration, and that up to a depth of 60 mm or more.
Cells
The active stimulation of the cells' own natural vibration along with the
instrument's mechanical pounding effect have an ideal impact upon cellular
metabolism. Consequently, intercellular activity is improved due to the incre-
ased permeability of the cell membrane; the diffusion process is regulated;
and substances otherwise harmful to cells are dispersed more quickly. Due to
the tissue's reactively stimulated circulation, the molecules in that tissue are
nourished with increased levels of oxygen and nutrients.
Nerves and muscles
Moreover, vibration can lower the perception threshold to touch, pain and
warmth, thus explaining the pain-soothing effect of the NOVAFON® instru-
ment (stimulation of the nerve endings). Above all, it is the regulating effect
upon muscle tension – whether too high or too low – due to stimulationof the
receptors of both muscles and tendons which is the reason why the NOVA-
FON® instrument can be used which such versatility.
Sonic plate and sonic ball
Whenever you treat a flat, easily massaged part of the body, apply the sonic
plate. It should lie in a flat position on the skin. For parts of the body that are
less easily reached - such as between the fingers, toes and ribs, the area around
the armpits or behind the ears - the sonic plate is best used. The ball is also
utilised for acupressure and to massage reflex zones.

5. Fields of Application

For a long time now the NOVAFON® instrument has been used successfully to
treat ailments of all kinds. It is passed over the area to be treated using either
linear strokes or slowly rotating movements. Where possible, the treatments-
hould be performed at least twice a day and should last no longer than15 to
20 minutes.
