Always hold the chain saw with right a hand for the rear handle and with your left hand for the front handle. Opposite way
of chain saw holding should never take place, because it increases the risk of injury.
Wear protective gloves and hearing protection. It is recommended to also to have a protection of head, hands, the legs
and feet. Suitable protective clothing reduces the risk of injuries due to contact with waste or due to accidental contact with the
chain.
You should not work with the chain saw, while you are on the tree. Operation of the chain saw while you are on the tree may
result in injury.
Always maintain proper posture and operate the chain saw while standing on a stationary, secure and level surface.
Slippery or unstable surface, for example a ladder can result in loss of balance or loss of control of the chain saw.
When cutting a stretched branch, you should beware of its rebound. If you release the tension, which is accumulated in the
fibers of the wood, the branch may strike the operator and/or deprived of control of the saw.
Particular care must be taken while cutting shrubs and young trees. Slender material may catch the chain and push the chain
saw in the direction of the operator or unbalance the operator.
Move the chain saw for front handle, when it is switched off and keep it away from your body. When transporting or
storing the chain saw you should always install the chain guide cover. The proper keeping of the chain saw reduces the
possibility of accidental contact with moving parts of the saw.
Follow instructions for the chain saw lubrication, the chain tensioning and replacement of accessories. Improperly tensio-
ned or improperly lubricated chain can break and to increase the chance of rebound towards the operator.
The handles must be kept dry, clean and free from grease and oil. Handles, which are oily or coated with grease, are slippery
and cause loss of control of the chain saw.
Cut only wood. Do not use the chain saw for work to which it was not intended. For example: do not cut the plastic,
concrete, or non-wooden building materials. The use of chain saw to perform works, other than it was intended for, may result
in hazardous situations.
During operation keep the chain saw with the insulated handles, because the chain may come into contact with energi-
zed cable, including its own power cable for network-powered saw s. Chain, which is connecting with the live wire under may
cause, that the metal parts of the chain saw also are energized, what can cause electric shock to the operator.
Causes and prevention of the phenomenon of rebound towards the operator.
Rebound in the direction of operator may occur when the end of the guide comes into contact with the object or when a cut wood
piece jams the chain saw in a cut kerf. In some cases, touching of the guide end with an object may cause a violent reaction which
will topple the guide in the direction of operator. Deadlocking in a cut kerf of the upper edge of guide can rapidly direct the guide
in the direction of operator.
Each of these reactions can cause the loosing of control of the chain saw which could result in serious injury. You should not
rely solely on the security elements built into the saw. Chainsaw operator should undertake some steps to prevent accidents and
injuries at work.
Rebound in the direction of operator is the result of misuse and/or incorrect procedures or the terms of service and it can be
avoided by taking appropriate precautions, which are presented below:
Keep a firm grip of both hands with thumbs and fingers which are closing around the handles of chain saw, the position
of the body and shoulders should allow to oppose the forces, which are arising during rebound. If appropriate precautions
are taken, then the rebound forces can be controlled by the operator. A free movement of the chain saw should not be allowed.
You should not reach too far and cut above shoulder height. This will help to prevent inadvertent contact of the skin to the
guide end and will enable better control of the chain saw in unexpected situations.
You should use a replacements of guide and chain only as it is specified by the manufacturer. An incorrect replacement of
guide and chain may cause breaking of the chain and/or an rebound phenomenon.
You should follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer for sharpening and maintenance of the chain. Reduction
of the row depth of chain guide can lead to increase the likelihood of the occurrence of the phenomenon of an rebound.
It is forbidden to expose the chain saw to atmospheric precipitation and using it in an atmosphere of increased
humidity. It is also forbidden to use of the chain saw in an atmosphere with an increased risk of fire or explosion.
During work with the chain saw you should avoid any contact with the objects, which are earthed, conductive and uninsulated,
such as pipes, heaters or coolers. When the chain saw is not in use, It should be stored in a dry, enclosed space, which is inac-
cessible to bystanders.
You should use the chain, which is adjusted for a given workload. You should not use the cutting chains which are designed for a
light work, to work under heavy load.
During exchange, repair and adjustment of the chain saw cutting chain you should always wear protective gloves.
When transporting the saw, you should make sure that it has been disconnected from the power source. Chainsaw, which are
mains powered, should be disconnected from the wall outlet, the chain saw s, which are battery operated, should be disconnect
from the battery. The guide with the cutting chain
must be installed with protection. Chain saw should be moved with the rail directed backwards.
You should not the mains powered chain saw by holding it with its power cable. Do not disconnect the plug from the wall socket
by pulling out the power cable.
