This section explains how to clean, check, and maintain the Wallaby system.
Maintenance Schedule
Follow the schedule and instructions below to keep the Wallaby system properly maintained.
After each patient
1. Check light intensity (See Appendix A).
2. Replace the disposable light panel cover
or vest.
3. Inspect the power cord and plug for
damage.
4. Verify light doesn't illuminate when panel
is not inserted.
IMPORTANT! An authorized service representative should
replace all parts, except the lamp.
Cleaning the Illuminator Unit and Fiber Optic Panel
Follow the instructions in this section any time the Illuminator unit or fiber optic panel is dirty.
IMPORTANT! Be sure the Illuminator unit is turned off and is unplugged before cleaning. Do
not immerse any part of the equipment in any liquid.
IMPORTANT! Keep panel away from sharp objects that could scratch or puncture the cover.
Use soapy water, a 10% bleach solution or full strength ammonia.
Use a soft sponge or cloth to apply the cleaner.
Apply the product to the sponge or cloth and wipe down the fiberoptic panel and
Illuminator.
Allow the equipment to air dry. DO NOT DRY WITH ANY MEANS OF ARTIFICIAL
HEAT.
DO NOT USE
Phenolic compound based germicide cleaner/disinfectant
Gluteraldhyde disinfectant/sterilants
Regular commercial cleaners or laundry detergents
Iodine solutions, strong acids or strong alkali solutions
These solutions could leave residue on the surfaces, and /or
be abrasive or harmful to the infant.

As needed
1. Clean the Illuminator unit and fiber optic
panel.
2. Replace the lamp.
3. Clean the optical filter.
