Appendix A: Joey™ Dosimeter
When checking the light output, be sure to:
Check light output with the Illuminator unit set at both light intensity levels:
Level 1 and Level 2. The minimum readings should be:
Standard Wrap Around Panel EG-2000
Neonatal Flat Panel EG-2000N
*Minimum average irradiance level of the illuminated area.

Obtaining an Intensity Reading

Follow the steps listed below to obtain a light reading using the Joey Dosimeter.

For Flat Light Panel EG-2000N

1. Be sure the light panel and the cable are properly attached to the Illuminator.
2. Take the protective cover off of the fiberoptic panel.
3. Plug in the Illuminator unit.
4. Turn the Illuminator unit ON.
5. Set Light Level to 1.
6. Place sensor of Joey face down on one end of the light emitting side of panel.
7. Depress the PUSH TO READ button on the Joey.
8. Note the reading on the Joey display.
9. Repeat steps 5-7 as 3 times across the panel.
10. Average the 3 readings together and ensure the value is at least 25µW/cm
11. Repeat the test on Light Level 2 and ensure the value is at least 35µW/cm

For Wrap Around Panel EG-2000

1. Be sure the light panel and the cable are properly attached to the Illuminator unit.
2. Take the protective cover off of the fiberoptic panel.
3. Plug in the Illuminator unit.
4. Turn the Illuminator unit ON.
5. Set the Light Level to 1.
6. Place sensor of Joey face down on one end of light emitting side of panel.
7. Depress the PUSH TO READ button on the Joey.
8. Note the reading on the Joey display.
9. Repeat steps 5-7 3 times across the panel.
10. Average the 3 readings together and ensure the value is at least 10µW/cm
11. Repeat the test on Light Level 2 and ensure the value is at least 15µW/cm
