Maintenance
Cleaning the Optical Filter
The optical filter is located inside the Illuminator unit. You should clean the mirror whenever your
irradiance levels are below the acceptable range.
1. Using a fresh cotton swab, wet with alcohol, wipe the mirror in one direction.
2. After one pass across the face of the mirror, throw the swab away. DO NOT scrub from side to side.
3. Use a fresh swab and repeat Steps 1 and 2 on the other side of the mirror.
IMPORTANT! Be sure the Illuminator unit is turned off and is unplugged before cleaning. Do not
immerse any part of the equipment in any liquid.
IMPORTANT! Do not touch the optical filter with your hands. Oil from skin can degrade the optical
filter.
Replacing the Lamp
Part Number 100-3600-20
The Wallaby is equipped with a System Alert light that blinks whenever a lamp fails to operate. Two
lamps are built in. When one fails, the second lamp automatically switches into place.
IMPORTANT! Replace the lamps ONLY with the lamp specified. Use of any other lamp than the
one specified in this manual will affect the performance of the system and could cause damage to
the Illuminator or fiber optic panel. Such use could also decrease the effectiveness and safety of
therapy.
IMPORTANT! Failure to use Respironics, Inc. manufactured lamps will render the warranty on the
Wallaby Phototherapy System null and void.
To replace a burned out bulb
1. Turn off the Illuminator unit and disconnect the power cord from the
power source. Wait 5 minutes for lamp to cool, if appropriate.
2. Remove the 2 screws and remove lamp access panel. A torx head
screwdriver size 15 is required.
3. Remove the burned out bulb by pulling the light straight out. This is
the bulb either on the far right or far left of the system. The good
bulb is in the center.
4. Replace with a new light bulb (P/N 100-3600-20).
5. Replace the access panel and screws.
There is no warm up time required with a new bulb as is the case with conventional phototherapy.
Therapy is immediately effective.
