Maintenance
Follow the instructions in this section to ensure proper maintenance of the Joey Dosimeter.
Digital Display
Avoid getting fingerprints, dirt, grease or dust on the photosensor.
A dirty sensor can result in false low intensity readings.
Clean the sensor with a water-dampened lens paper or soft cloth. Then, wipe dry.
WARNINGS and CAUTIONS
•
DO NOT immerse the photosensor in water or any other liquid.
•
DO NOT apply water or commercial cleaning agents directly to the sensor and/or digital
display.
•
Use a soft damp cloth or lens paper to wipe the display window while exerting very little
pressure.
•
DO NOT rub your fingers across the display window. This creates static electricity and can
cause false readings.
Battery
The Joey Dosimeter operates with a single 9-volt, non-rechargeable battery.
A LO BAT signal will display if the battery needs to be changed.
Follow the steps shown below to replace the battery:
1. Remove the battery compartment cover from the lower backside of the Joey Dosimeter.
2. Lift out the 9-volt battery.
3. Replace it with a battery of the same type.
4. Replace the battery compartment cover.
Recalibration
The Joey Dosimeter is calibrated against lamp standards traceable to the National Institute of Standards
Technology. It is calibrated to be +/- 2% or +/- one digit (the least significant digit).
Proper calibration can only be accomplished with a National Institute or Standards Technology traceable
lamp standard. It is recommended that the instrument be returned to Respironics for recalibration
immediately if the meter has been physically abused.
Recommended frequency for recalibration is annually.
