Before Use

Note: The pump is fully submersible to the depth and maximum temperature listed in
'Specification' , into clean or slightly contaminated water (see 'Specification' for maximum particle
size), swimming pool and soapy water.
Attaching the outlet hose
• Screw the Outlet Elbow Connector (7) into the Water Outlet (8)
• This pump features a Hose Connector (6) that is compatible with multiple hose diameters:
38mm (1-1/2''), 32mm (1-1/4'') and 25mm (1'') (Fig. III)
Note: 38mm (1-1/2") hose must be used to achieve maximum delivery capacity (as stated
in 'Specification').
1. Decide which hose diameter you are going to use and determine where on the Hose Connector
(6) this diameter hose is fastened
2. Cut off the smaller steps of the Hose Connector that are not needed, using a suitable knife (not
included). This removes unnecessary flow restrictions and ensures maximum pump capacity and
water flow (Fig. III)
3. Fit the hose on to the Hose Connector and secure with a hose clip (not included)
Note: It is recommended to use stainless steel hose clips to prevent corrosion.
Setting up the pump
1. Attach a suitable rope to the Lifting Handle (5), to lower the pump into the water, to adjust its
position when submerged, and to lift the pump back out of the water
2. Locate a position for submerging the pump - where the float switch can move freely - if automatic
operation is required
3. Ensure a safe path for the power cable, where it cannot be damaged, does not pose a hazard, and
where it can safely reach the mains power supply (also see 'Electrical connection')
4. Observe the maximum head height (see 'Specification'). Keep the hose as short and straight as
possible. Ensure it does not kink as this would restrict the water flow
IMPORTANT: Kinked or otherwise obstructed hoses lead to reduced pump capacity and may lead to
pump damage through overheating.
Setting the pump base height
The pump base can be set at different heights to provide flow and filter control
To adjust the height :
1. Slide the spring loaded base out the bottom of the tool (Image A)
2. Turn the base to the desired flow setting (Image B)
3. Release the base and ensure it is locked in position
Adjusting the Float Switch
• To adjust the cut-in and cut-out height, attach the Float Switch (2) cable to the Float Switch Lock
(4) at the required length (Fig. I)
Submerging & lifting the pump
• The pump must be submerged below the water level (see 'Specification')
• Use the rope attached to the Lifting Handle (5) to position the pump underwater. NEVER attempt
to move the pump by pulling or manipulating the power cable
• Ensure that the pump sits vertically on even ground. Check that the Water Inlets (1) are not
obscured in any way. If the bottom surface is soft, the pump should be supported on a flat object
or be suspended using the rope attached to the handle
• ONLY use the rope to lift the pump out of the water after use
Electrical connection
WARNING: NEVER touch the power cable, plug or mains socket with wet hands.
WARNING: This pump will operate immediately once it is supplied with power. It will also switch
ON when dry if the Float Switch (2) is in certain positions; this must be avoided to prevent damage
to the device and potential user injury.
• Always check the pump, the power cable and plug, before each operation. DO NOT use if you
detect any damage or wear, and have the cable replaced by an authorised Silverline service
centre
• The power cable MUST be connected to a plug socket that is located well above water level,
protected from flooding
• If using an extension lead, only use compatible, outdoors rated extensions with waterproof joints
• ONLY connect this pump to compatible plug sockets with suitable ingress protection (outdoor
rated)
• Connect this pump exclusively to power points protected by a RCD with a maximum tripping
current of 30mA and a maximum delay of 40ms
8
Note: According to VDE, the use of electrical pumps in garden ponds, fountains and swimming
pools is only permitted if the pump is operated via an RCD. Installation regulations according to VDE
0100, part 072, have to be observed. If in doubt, please contact a qualified electrician.
Operation
WARNING: Only use when sufficiently submerged in water. Remove from the water when not
in use.
WARNING: Do not use this pump, and remove from liquid, when temperatures are close to the
point of freezing.
WARNING: Do not allow the pump to operate continuously for more than 5 hours at a time. After 5
hours, disconnect and allow to fully cool.
Note: This pump is protected by a built-in thermal motor protector. It will switch OFF if overheating
occurs. Once sufficiently cooled, the motor will automatically switch ON again.
Note: This pump is equipped with an automatic de-aerating device, which removes air from the
pump. If the water level drops below the Air Vent Valve (3), a small amount of water will penetrate
through the Air Vent Valve. This is not a defect of the pump, but serves to remove air from the pump.
Float Switch operation
• After set up is complete and the pump is connected to the power supply, it will operate
automatically and will start pumping provided the water level is sufficient
• As the water level drops to minimum safe level, the pump will automatically switch OFF
Manual operation
• To manually operate the pump, connect to the power supply and manually lift the Float Switch
(2) to switch the pump ON
WARNING: Dry-running operation causes increased wear and is to be avoided. The pump must be
immediately switched OFF when water fails to flow.
Note: In case the pump was allowed to nearly run dry, it may not start to pump water again, once
water levels are restored. In this case, switch the pump OFF for a short time and back on. This will
restore proper operation of the Air Vent Valve (3).
Accessories
• Accessories including water hoses and hose clips are available from your Silverline dealer
• Spare parts can be obtained from toolsparesonline.com
Maintenance
WARNING: Always disconnect the pump from the power supply before carrying out any
maintenance.
General inspection
• Regularly check that all the fixing screws are tight. They may vibrate loose over time
• Inspect the supply cord of the tool, prior to each use, for damage or wear. Repairs should be
carried out by an authorised Silverline service centre. This advice also applies to extension cords
used with this tool
Cleaning
• Keep your tool clean at all times. Dirt and dust will cause internal parts to wear quickly, and
shorten the machine's service life
• Remove mud, debris and other dirt after use, and ALWAYS rinse thoroughly with clean fresh
water
Removing obstructions
WARNING: Ensure the pump is disconnected from the power supply before attempting to
remove obstructions. Wear adequate personal protective equipment, including eye protection and
cut-proof gloves.
• In the event of obstructions or dirt inside the Water Inlets (1), the suction base can be removed
for cleaning (Fig. II):
1. Remove the 3 screws in the base, using a suitable Phillips screwdriver (not included)
