To Air breather
To Buchholz relay
Figure A/2
CAUTION
Make sure during installation that no dirt, moisture or foreign
matters get into the relay.
The insulating liquid of the transformer/reactor may not contain
conductive materials!
After the installation check the function of the relay.
The contacts (alarm and trip) can be tested manually
moving the rod (mechanical test).
Mechanical test
Unscrew the plug (Fig.B/1) then slowly push the button
(Fig.B/2) following the red arrow direction (figure B).
In this way the float has moved and the magnets have
switched the trip reeds. The button, after been quickly re-
leased (without accompany it), automatically comes back
to original position. As well the inner movements do. This
test does not give the conformity of the electrical scheme.

Electrical connection
Electrical connections should only be performed by qualified
and skilled personnel trained in the applicable health and safety
regulations of the relevant country.
Dangerous electrical voltages!
It is imperative to deactivate the power supply during wiring of
the device.
During the terminal box assembly, use caution not to damage
the OR gasket. If this occurs it must be substituted.
Multicore signal leads can be fitted in the relay R1 through
cable glands (M25x1.5 – C/3).
A conductor cross section of 1.5 mm2 (copper) is
recommended. The maximum cross section that can be
clamped is 2.5 mm
Proceed following the actions:
• Unscrew the n. 4 captive M5 screws M5 (C/1)
• Remove the cap (C/2)
• Insert the lead through the cable gland (C/3)
• Connect the lead to the terminal board (C/4) according
to the chosen electrical scheme (tab.1)
