Light Effect Unit
GB
1
Applications
The light effect units LE-100, LE-110, LE-120, LE-130, and LE-140 are
suitable for professional applications (e. g. in discothèques) as well as
for private use. The units produce multi-coloured rotating light beams
via two halogen lamps turning to the beat of the music. The light con-
trol is made via an integrated microphone or - except model LE-100
- optionally via a control cable connected with the music system.

Safety Notes
This unit corresponds to the directive for electromagnetic compati-
bility 89/336/EEC and the low voltage directive 73/23/EEC.
For the operation watch in any case the following items:
The unit is suitable for indoor use only. Protect it against humid-
ity and heat (permissible operating temperature range 0-40 °C).
The heat which is generated in the unit has to be carried off via
air circulation. Therefore, do not cover the air vents of the hous-
ing with anything.
Do not insert or drop anything into the air vents! This could result
in electric shock.
The unit is heating up very much in the area of the lamps during
operation. To avoid burnings, do not touch this area during oper-
ation resp. let the unit cool down for some minutes after switch-
ing off before touching it.
Do not take the unit into operation and immediately take the
mains plug out of the mains socket if:
1. damage at the unit or mains cable can be seen,
2. a defect might have occurred after a drop or similar accident,
3. there are malfunctions.
The unit uses dangerous mains voltage (230 V~). In case of
improper action a shock hazard may occur. The unit must in any
case be repaired by authorized skilled personnel.
A damaged mains cable must only be repaired by the manufac-
turer or authorized skilled personnel.
Never pull the mains plug out of the mains socket by means of
the mains cable.
If the unit is used for purposes other than originally intended, if it is
operated in the wrong way or if it is not repaired by authorized skilled
personnel, no liability can be taken over for possible damage.
Only use a dry, soft cloth for cleaning, by no means chemicals or
water.
If the unit is to be put out of operation definitively, bring it to a local
recycling plant for disposal.
Important for U.K. Customers!
The wires in this mains lead are coloured in accordance with the fol-
lowing code: green/yellow = earth, blue = neutral, brown = live.
As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this appliance may
not correspond with the coloured markings identifying the ter-
minals in your plug, proceed as follows:
1. The wire which is coloured green and yellow must be connected
to the terminal in the plug which is marked with the letter E or by
the earth symbol
or coloured green or green and yellow.
2. The wire which is coloured blue must be connected to the ter-
minal which is marked with the letter N or coloured black.
3. The wire which is coloured brown must be connected to the
terminal which is marked with the letter L or coloured red.
Warning - This appliance must be earthed.
3
Installing of lamp inserts
The unit is supplied without lamp inserts. Two halogen lamps are
necessary with the following specifications:
- for the models LE-100, LE-110, and LE-120:
230 V/300 W, socket GX 6.35 (e. g. HL-230/300 of our programme)
- for the models LE-130 and LE-140:
24 V/250 W, socket G 6.35 (e. g. HL-24/250 or HL-24/250L of
our programme)
Important! Prior to installing resp. replacing of the lamps the unit
must in any case be separated from the power supply! As halogen
lamps become very hot during operation, at first let the lamps cool
down after operation of the unit (cooling time at least 5 minutes)
before replacing the lamp inserts.
1) Open the lamp compartment of the light effect unit by screwing
off the silver-coloured screw. (With model LE-100, the screw is
at the side of the dome of the unit, with models LE-110 and LE-

120 at the bottom side of the unit, and with models LE-130 and
LE-140 at the top side of the unit.)
2) With replacing the lamps carefully draw both old lamps out of the
sockets.
3) To avoid that the new lamps become impurified by skin grease,
if possible do not touch them with the fingers but use a soft cloth.
Insert the new halogen lamps: Place the pin sockets of the lamps
into the sockets.
4) Close the lamp compartment, and tighten the silver-coloured
screw again.
4
Mounting
For the mounting of the light effect unit fasten a rugged support for
light radiating units at the mounting bracket by screws. Then fix the
unit with the support at the desired place (stand for light radiating
units resp. traverse). To align the unit, loosen the knob screw/s of
the mounting bracket, swivel the unit into the desired position, and
tighten the knob screw/s again.
Important! To avoid that the heat inside the unit cannot be dissipat-
ed, the mounting place must be chosen in such a way that during
operation a sufficient air circulation is guaranteed. The vents of the
housing must not be covered.
5
Operation
5.1 Light control via the integrated microphone
1) Connect the light effect unit with the mains plug to a mains
socket (230 V~/50 Hz). With connection to the power supply the
unit is switched on: The lamps light.
2) Adjust the desired volume at the music system.
3) Adjust the desired microphone sensitivity with the rotary control
at the rear side of the unit. If the rotary control is turned fully
counterclockwise up to the stop, the microphone is switched off.
The further the rotary control is turned clockwise, the greater the
microphone sensitivity is. Adjust the rotary control so that the
dynamics of the music is reproduced by the rotating light beams
in an optimum way.
NOTE: If the volume of the music system is changed, also the
microphone sensitivity must be matched accordingly via the
rotary control.
4) To switch off the unit, disconnect the mains plug.
5.2 Light control via a control cable (not with model LE-100)
Always disconnect the light effect unit from the power supply before
connecting it to other units.
1) Connect a control cable to the 6.3 mm jack at the rear side of the
unit and to a line level output at the music system (e. g. monitor
output or headphones output at the mixer). The level of this out-
put must at least be 2 V.
2) Connect the light effect unit with the mains plug to a mains
socket (230 V~/50 Hz). With connection to the power supply the
unit is switched on: The lamps light.
3) Adjust the desired volume at the music system.
4) Adjust the desired input sensitivity with the rotary control at the
rear side of the unit. If the control is turned fully counterclockwise
up to the stop, there is no light control. To increase the input sen-
sitivity, turn the control fully clockwise. Adjust the control so that
the dynamics of the music is reproduced by the rotating light
beams in an optimum way.
5) To switch off the unit, disconnect the mains plug.
