not rely exclusively upon the safety devices built into your
saw; as a chain saw user, you should take several steps
to keep your cutting jobs free from accident or injury)
• Kickback is the result of tool misuse and/or incorrect
operating procedures or conditions and can be avoided
by taking proper precautions as given below:
- maintain a firm grip, with thumbs and fingers
encircling the chain saw handles, with both
hands on the saw and position your body and
arm to allow you to resist kickback forces
(kickback forces can be controlled by the operator, if
proper precautions are taken; do not let go of the chain
saw)
- do not over reach and do not cut above shoulder
height (this helps prevent unintended tip contact and
enables better control of the chain saw in unexpected
situations)
- only use replacement bars and chains specified
by the manufacturer (incorrect replacement bars
and chains may cause chain breakage and/or
kickback)
- follow the manufacturer's sharpening and
maintenance instructions for the saw chain
(decreasing the depth gauge height can lead to
increased kickback)

PERSONAL SAFETY

• It is recommended that the first time user should have
practical instruction in the use of the chainsaw and the
protective equipment from an experienced operator and
that the initial practice should be cutting logs on a saw
horse or cradle
• Do not touch rotating chain
• Do not operate chain saw near other people,
children or animals
• Do not operate chain saw after drinking alcohol or
under the influence of intoxicating drugs or
medication
• Ensure that children do not play with the tool

ELECTRICAL SAFETY

• Always check that the supply voltage is the same as the
voltage indicated on the nameplate of the tool
• Connect the tool via a fault current (FI) circuit breaker
with a triggering current of 30 mA maximum
• Use completely unrolled and safe extension cords with a
capacity of 16 Amps (U.K. 13 Amps)
• Only use an extension cord which is intended for outdoor
use and equipped with a watertight plug and coupling-
socket
• Only use extension cords with a maximum length of 20
metres (1,5 mm²) or 50 metres (2,5 mm²)
• Always switch off tool and disconnect plug from power
source if the power supply cord or the extension cord is
cut, damaged or entangled (do not touch the cord
before disconnecting the plug)
• Protect the (extension) cord from heat, oil and sharp edges
• Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the
tool
• Inspect the cord periodically and have it replaced by a
qualified person, if damaged
• Inspect the extension cord periodically and replace it, if
damaged (inadequate extension cords can be
dangerous)
• Do not use the tool if the switch does not turn it on and
off; always have a damaged switch repaired by a qualified
person
EXPLANATION OF SYMBOLS ON TOOL
3 Read the instruction manual before use
4 Always switch off tool and disconnect plug from power
source if the power supply cord or the extension cord is
cut, damaged or entangled (do not touch the cord
before disconnecting the plug)
5 Do not expose tool to rain
6 Wear protective glasses and hearing protection
7 Double insulation (no earth wire required)
8 Do not dispose of the tool together with household waste
material
WHEN CONNECTING NEW 3-PIN PLUG (U.K. ONLY):
• Do not connect the blue (= neutral) or brown (= live) wire
in the cord of this tool to the earth terminal of the plug
• If for any reason the old plug is cut off the cord of this tool,
it must be disposed of safely and not left unattended
USE
• Assembly 9
! do not connect the chain saw to mains before it is
completely assembled
! always use gloves when handling the chain
- place the chain saw on any suitable flat surface
- remove cover plate A by turning locking knob B
counter-clockwise
- slide chain C in the slot around chain bar D
! ensure chain is in correct running direction by
comparing with chain symbol E
- fit the chain onto drive sprocket F and guide chain bar
D, so that fastening bolt G and the two guide fins H fit
into the keyway of chain bar D, and that chain
tensioning peg J fits into the respective hole of chain
bar D
- if necessary, turn tensioning knob K to bring tensioning
peg J in alignment with the hole in chain bar D
- check if all parts are seated properly and hold chain
and chain bar in a level position
- turn tensioning knob K until all the slack is taken up in
the chain
- mount cover plate A as illustrated
- tighten locking knob B on fastening bolt G by turning it
clockwise
• Tensioning chain 0
- place the chain saw on any suitable flat surface
- check if the chain links are correctly located in the slot
around chain bar D
1) loosen locking knob B until it is just holding chain
bar in position (do not remove)
2) lift the chain bar somewhat and hold it in that
position
3) turn chain tensioning knob K upwards until the
lowest chain links come up and JUST touch the
bottom of chain bar D
4) tighten locking knob B by turning it clockwise
5) release chain bar
6) the correct chain tension is reached when the chain
can be raised approx. 4 mm from the chain bar in
the centre
