These products are designed with a Nutube at the heart of their circuitry, providing the
response and harmonic distortion that are typical of a vacuum tube. Proprietary design
allows these pedals to be used for a variety of purposes. The 9V power supply voltage
is boosted to 15V, and this is used to drive all of the analog circuitry. This ensures
ample gain and headroom, delivering a more dynamic sound.
MYSTIC EDGE: Reproduces the iconic balance of the VOX AC30's rich distortion and
distinctive chime sound.
COPPERHEAD DRIVE: Generates distortion similar to that of a powerful British valve amp.
CUTTING EDGE: Generates distortion similar to that of a magnificent American high-gain
tube amp.
SILK DRIVE: Generates smooth and natural overdrive reminiscent of a boutique tube amp.

1. IN (INPUT) jack: Connect the guitar cable here. This jack also functions as the power
switch. When you're not using this unit, unplug the cable from the input jack.
2. OUT (OUTPUT) jack: Connect this jack to a guitar amp, effect unit, or mixer etc.
3. EFFECT switch: Press the EFFECT switch to switch between the effect sound (the
indicator is lit) and the bypass sound (the indicator is unlit).
4. Display: This unit is equipped with an oscilloscope function that
displays a waveform showing the characteristics of the distortion
produced by the Nutube circuit. If you select DISPLAY OFF mode,
the waveform is not shown in the display.
To choose DISPLAY OFF mode: With the power off, set the MODE
switch to STD. Next, hold down the EFFECT switch and turn on the
power. Then, when the indicator is lit, release the EFFECT switch.
The unit is in DISPLAY OFF mode, and the display indicates "DISP OFF."
This DISPLAY OFF mode is maintained until the power is turned off.
5. MODE switch: Use this switch to select one of three output modes.
STD (STANDARD) mode: The unit operates as a typical stomp box
or effect pedal. This is the best choice when connecting the unit to
the input of a guitar amp.
PRE (PREAMP) mode: The preamp signal is sent to the output. You
can use this in conjunction with an external cabinet simulator or
impulse response (IR). This is the best choice when connecting the
unit to your guitar amp's FX LOOP (RETURN) jack or to a power amp designed for guitar.
CAB (CAB-SIM) mode: The sound passes through a cabinet simulator circuit featuring a
proprietary design. This produces an exquisite sound like that of micing a cabinet. This is
the best choice when connecting the unit to a line-level device such as a mixer or DAW.
6. LINK jack: This jack lets you use a commercially available 3.5 mm mini-phone cable
to connect a VOX effect pedal that's equipped with a LINK jack. If multiple units are
connected, turning one effect unit on will bypass the other units (link function). This
function allows operations similar to switching channels on a multi-channel amp.
A maximum of five units can be connected. Do not connect any more than this.
If you want to connect multiple units, use a commercially available splitter cable
(you can also use a stereo headphone splitter cable). However, you cannot use a
splitter cable that divides stereo into L and R.
Do not make connections using a cable that has a built-in resistor. Doing so might
cause malfunctions.
7. DC 9V jack: Connect a separately sold AC adapter (9V,
here. Since this unit has a high current consumption, we recommend that you use it
with an AC adapter.
8. VOLUME knob: Adjusts the output volume.
9. GAIN knob: Adjusts the amount of distortion.
10. BASS knob: Adjusts the tonal character of the low-frequency region.
11. TREBLE knob: Adjusts the tonal character of the high-frequency region

CUTTING EDGE
MYSTIC EDGE
BRIGHT switch: Adds high frequencies and harmonics to the distorted character.
TONE CUT knob: Adjusts the amount by which the high-frequency region is cut. This
interacts with the TREBLE knob to allow fine adjustment of the high-frequency region.
COPPERHEAD DRIVE/SILK DRIVE
BRIGHT switch: Adds high frequencies and overtones to the distorted character.
MIDDLE knob: Adjusts the tonal character of the mid-frequency region.
CUTTING EDGE
TIGHT knob: Adjusts the low end. You can use this to reduce the low end when playing
fat rhythms, or to boost the low end for powerful riffs.
MIDDLE knob: Adjusts the tonal character of the mid-frequency region.
Installing the battery
1. Open the battery cover located on the bottom of the pedal.
2. Attach the battery to the battery clip, ensuring sure that the polar-
ity is correct.
3. Install the battery and close the battery cover.
When the battery runs low, the display indicates "LOW BATT." Install
a new battery as soon as possible. When the battery is completely
exhausted, the display goes dark and the sound is no longer output.
Turn off the power before installing a battery.
An exhausted battery should be immediately removed from the
unit. Leaving an exhausted battery in the unit might damage the
unit (due to battery leakage, etc.). The battery should also be
removed if you won't be using the unit for an extended period
of time.
The included battery is for the purpose of checking operation. For this reason, it
might have a shorter lifespan than usual.

Power-off the equipment that you'll be connecting.
1. Set the VOLUME knob to the minimum level.
2. To the INPUT jack, connect the cable that's connected to your guitar or other instru-
ment.
3. To the OUTPUT jack, connect the cable that's connected to your effect pedal or
guitar amp etc.
4. Power-on the externally connected equipment.
5. Press the EFFECT switch, and use the VOLUME knob to adjust the overall volume
that is output from the OUTPUT jack.
6. Use the various knobs and switches to adjust the tone.
If you are using an optional AC adapter
If you want to supply power from an AC adapter, connect a separately sold AC adapter
(9V,
, 600 mA or greater) to the DC 9V jack.
Using an AC adapter other than what Vox recommends may cause a malfunction
or damage.
