The maximum service life under optimum
storage conditions (see Storage) and without use
is 12 years.
The maximum service life (commercial or non-
commercial use) providing proper use without
visible signs of wear and optimum storage
conditions is 10 years.
If PPE products show signs of wear, they must
always be replaced, especially if harness edges
are damaged or fibres have been torn from the
webbing, if damage/signs of abrasion show on
seams, or if they have come in contact with
chemicals. Watch out for sharp burrs or signs of
corrosion on metal parts of the equipment.
In case of extreme use (extreme signs of
wear), for instance, upon strain by a fall or when
damage is visible, immediately remove the PPE
from use and turn it over to the manufacturer or
a competent person for inspection and/or repair;
be sure to request a written confirmation for the
work done.
Repairs may only be performed as outlined in the
instructions of the manufacturer.

Inspection
The product must be inspected and serviced
as needed, but at least once per year by the
manufacturer, a competent person, or an
authorised inspections agency.
Among other inspections the readability of
the product labelling should be checked. If the
service life of 10 years is exceeded, the PPE
product must be removed from use.
Storage, transport and care (Fig. 9)
Storage:
Store cool, dry, and protected from daylight
outside transport containers. Prevent contact
with chemicals (Attention: battery acid!). Prevent
mechanic strain by crushing, pressure or tension.
Transport:
Protect the product from direct sunlight,
chemicals,
contamination
damage. To ensure this, use a protective bag or
special storage and transport containers.
Cleaning (Fig. 8a):
Clean contaminated products in hand warm
water (if needed, add pH-balanced soap). Rinse
properly. Dry at room temperature, never in
dryers or near heaters/radiators! Commercial,
halogen-free disinfectants may be used if
required.
For
PPE
products
into clothing be sure to observe the attached
cleaning/laundry instructions.
If needed, oil the joints of metal parts after
cleaning.
Attention: If these instructions for use are not
carefully observed, the life of persons may be
at risk!
