Power OFF
1. To turn off the monitor when patient monitoring is complete,
push the ON/OFF button on the back of the monitor to the OFF
position.
NotE: The fan will continue to run and the battery will
charge if the monitor is plugged in. The fan will shut
down only when there is no AC power source.
2. Disconnect the InSpectra
optical cable at the connector by rotating the
connector lock toward the unlock symbol.
Remove the disposable InSpectra StO
Sensor from the patient and dispose of properly.
3. Unplug the power cord from the outlet receptacle.
NotE: If the battery requires charging, leave the monitor plugged in.
4. Clean the monitor and optical cable if necessary. See below for cleaning guidelines.
5. Wind the optical cable around the prongs
monitor for storage and protection from damage.
6. Place the connector end of the optical cable in the storage port
storage and protection from damage. See figure 20.1.
Cleaning the System
Monitor and optical cable
1. Remove visible foreign material by wiping the surfaces of the monitor and optical cable using a mild detergent
per standard institutional practices.
2. The following disinfectants may be used on the monitor and optical cable surfaces
• Isopropyl Alcohol (70% to 90%)
• P henolic germicidal detergent solution (per manufacturer's recommendations)
• Q uaternary ammonium germicidal detergent solution (per manufacturer's recommendations)

NotE: Do not clean with acetone or ethyl alcohol. Avoid use of cleaners that might scratch or dissolve
plastic surfaces. It is advisable to test the cleaner on a hidden surface for possible deterioration of exterior
finishes.

Clean the inside of the optical cable and system check connectors using a
cotton-tipped applicator with cleaner and swipe each fiber optic face
and the alignment disc (on optical cable only)
NotE: Do not clean the Optical Cable Connector with sodium
hypochlorite (bleach) as this will damage the connector surface.
Sensor
NotE: Do not use disinfectants on the InSpectra StO
designed for single use only. Dispose of properly after use.
