OPERATORS INSTRUCTIONS
Safety
The motor is supplied with a mechanical brake
fitted. A thermal cut out is fitted in the motor field.
The no-hole sensor proximity switch also acts as
a cut out in case the tool should over run in the
depth position.
Control box
A control box (Europe part no. 94942, USA
part no. 94962) is available for controlling the
AFTE470.
The control box is protected by fuses and has a
mains isolating interlock fitted to the cover.
For further information, contact Desoutter.

If the user is supplying his own
controller, reference must be made to
the manufacturer's information when
selecting a suitable contactor.
An emergency stop button must be
fitted to the controller and a suitable
interlock must be fitted to the control
box.
An inch reverse button is essential
to restart the machine if the spindle
comes to a dead halt.
Lubrication
If lubrication is required an air line lubricator
should be fitted down stream of the filter.
Use ISO VG 15.
Note: full power is achieved using a lubricated
air supply.
Electricity Supply
The motor must be connected to a three phase
supply in accordance with the voltage chart and
provided with a starter fitted with an overload
protection.
Voltage Chart - 3 Phase: (See page 13).
Connecting to the Electrical Supply
Ensure the supply is off before
making connections.
Star (Y) and delta (Δ) connections are
to be strictly in accordance with the
supply voltage given in the chart. any
deviation from the chart will result in
damage to the motor.
Determine the supply voltage and refer to the
voltage chart for motor connections details (See
page 13).
● For Y (star) connection, couple terminal W2
to U2 and U2 to V2.
● For Δ (Delta) connection, couple terminal W2
to U1, U2 to V1 and V2 to W1.
In both methods the motor will be direct on line
connected.
The terminals are fitted with 7mm
A/F nuts and the connecting links are
connected between the posts.
Do not remove or loosen the bottom nut
on the terminals.
Connect the wires to the motor as follows
(See page 13):
- green/yellow wire to the earth terminal
- black/black and brown wires to the
terminals U1, V1 , W1.
The wires from the thermal in a connector TS
(See figure 1 page 13) and are wired in series with
the holding coil in the supply contactor.
