LIMIT easy to use handheld moisture meter used by constructors, house
inspectors, woodworkers and home owners for measuring moisture content of
wood. A reading is instantly given in the LCD display when probes are pushed
into the wood. The protective cover is also a calibration part to determine that
the unit is in good shape. The unit has 7 measurement ranges easily selected
depending on the wood type to be measured.

Operating instructions
1. How to select the desired range:
Press and hold down the button for about 5 seconds. When the unit enters
the range setting mode the current range flashes on the display. Press the
button until desired range flashes in the display, wait 5 seconds and the range
selection mode is exited and the desired range is selected.
Note: after replacing the battery the unit defaults to range 5.
2. Preparation:
To calibrate the unit, set to range 5, then remove the protective cover and
have the probes touch the two metal contact points on the protective cover,
see Figure 2, press button and read the value shown in the display. This value
is called the adjustment value. If the adjustment value is within the range of
18% ±1% the unit is in normal condition. If the adjustment value is outside
this range the difference between the adjustment value and 18% needs to be
subtracted from subsequent measurements, see formula below. An alternative
is to adjust the potentiometer in the unit, which can only be done by a qualified
technician.
moisture content = reading – (adjustment value-18%)

3. Measuring the moisture content:
a. See table of "Wood Species Correction Table" and determine which range
that should be selected depending on specimen to be measured. Set the unit to
this range.
b. Drive the probes into the wood specimen to be measured at least 4-5 mm.
Note the reading shown in the display.
Note: If the measurement is less than 5%, the display will show "00%", and
above 42% "OL" is shown.
