Check the clamping jaws for wear and defects. They must have clean profiles.
The protective lining must be even and free of grease and oil. It must be immediately replaced
when its remaining thickness is 2.5 mm or less.
Check the complete load lifting attachment for damage, cracks or deformations.
The load lifting attachment must open and close easily and freely.
Check the locking pawl which fixes the grab when it is open for easy and free movement.
Check the spring-loaded pins and locking pins which secure the height-adjustable supporting
feet and the turning mechanism for perfect functioning and easy and free movement.
Load lifting attachment with protective lining
The surface of the protective lining must be free of grease and oil.
The protective lining must be replaced when the thickness is less than 2,5 mm.
Models with protective lining may be used at temperatures between -20 °C and +60 °C.

Picking up and depositing a barrel
Lower the load lifting attachment suspended in the suspension (e.g. hook, shackle, etc.) until it
can be guided on the handle. With the suspension eye arranged centrally over the barrel to be
picked up, position the load lifting attachment in such a way that the two clamping jaws are
exactly at the height of the barrel middle (between the two beads) and the two supporting feet
set down on the ground. It may be necessary to adapt the two supporting feet in their length.
This is done by pulling the locking pins on the height-adjustable feet, shortening/extending the
feet and then making sure that the locking pins are safely latched again.
The clamping arms close when the locking pawl is released and the suspension (e.g. hook,
shackle, etc.) is lifted at the same time, the load is safely gripped and can be easily
transported.
Attention: If the supporting feet are not standing on the ground when the locking pawl
is opened, the load lifting attachment may close very quickly. Danger of injury!
Attention: The barrel grab may only be moved when the barrel is in a vertical position.
Make sure that when depositing the load, the suspension (e.g. hook, shackle, etc.) is lowered
until the two supporting feet of the barrel grab are standing on the ground with all wheels. By
further lowering, the clamping arms open and release the transported barrel. Lower the
suspension (e.g. hook, shackle, etc.) until the locking pawl latches again and thus secures the
barrel grab in the opened position.
Turning/emptying a barrel
The operator secures the picked up, upright barrel in its position by gripping one hand lever of
the clamping shells and releasing the lock of the turning axle by pulling at the same time. The
barrel can now be tipped and emptied, while being guided on both hand levers.
Attention: Tipping of the transported barrel must only be controlled via the two fixed
hand levers. Danger of crushing!
The turning axle can be fixed in a vertical, 45° and horizontal position by means of the spring-
loaded pin. Move the picked up barrel to a standing position again before transporting it
further. Make sure that the spring pin safely fixes the turning axle in a vertical position.
