Possible Cause

Suction hose collapsed,
damaged, too long, or diameter
too small.

Discharge hose damaged, too
long, or diameter too small.
Excessive head.
Engine lacks power.

Move the throttle lever to the FAST position.
Prime pump (see page 23).
Replace suction hose (see page 21).
Sink the strainer and the end of the suction hose
completely underwater.
Replace hose coupling packing if missing or
damaged.
Tighten hose connector and clamp (see pages 21
and 22).
Clean debris from strainer.
Relocate pump and/or hoses to reduce head (see
page 20).
