J 42059 Cigarette Lighter Socket Remover
Installation Instructions:
1. Install Ashtray in cup holder/compartment console frontal/com-
partment console rear.
2. Install Cigarette Lighter Housing per instructions below.
APO Removal Procedure
1. The ignition key must be off or in lock position.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Disconnect the positive battery cable.
4. Insert the J 42059 into the APO socket sleeve. Tilt the tool so
that the tool fits into the slots on the sides of the APO socket
sleeve.
5. Hold the plastic ring in place. Pull the APO socket out of the
assembly in order to remove the outlet.
6. Remove the plastic ring.
7. If J 42059 tool fails to release the power port/lighter socket
from the retainer, perform the following alternate method:
A. Insert a small grinding tool with a cutoff wheel into the
socket.

B. Remove the plastic latches in the 3 mm (0.11in) square
windows.
C. Use the J 42059 as directed above to remove the socket.
8. Remove the electrical connector from the APO socket.
Cigarette Lighter Installation Procedure I
1. Connect the electrical connector to the Cigarette Lighter
Housing. If electrical connector will not fit proceed to Cigarette
Lighter Installation Procedure II.
2. Insert the plastic ring into the opening in the trim and snap the
plastic ring into place.
3. Connect the electrical connector to the cigarette lighter hous-
ing.
4. Insert the housing through the plastic ring gently by hand until
the socket ring is sealed.
5. Install the power supply fuse.
6. Insert the cigarette lighter into cigarette lighter housing.
Cigarette Lighter Installation Procedure II
1. Cut the wires at the back of the vehicle connector, leaving as
much wire as possible.
2. Strip 7 mm (1/4 inch) of insulation from ends of all the wires.
3. Connect "A" to orange wire.
4. Connect "C" to black wire.
5. Cut off wire from "B" at new connector, this wire is not required.
6. Wires should be crimped tightly and sealed by shrinking the
tube with a heat gun.
7. Tape the new wires back to the existing vehicle harness tape.
8. Insert the plastic ring into the trim opening and snap the plas-
tic ring into place.
9. Connect the electrical connector to the cigarette lighter hous-
ing.
10. Insert the housing through the plastic ring gently by hand until
the socket ring is sealed.
11. Install the power supply fuse.
12. Insert the cigarette lighter into cigarette lighter housing.
13. Connect the positive battery cable.
14. Connect the negative battery cable.
