GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS

Improper use of the grounding plug can re-
sult in a risk of electric shock.
NOTE: This product should be grounded. In the event of
a n e l e c t r i c a l s h o r t c i r c u i t , g r o u n d i n g r e d u c e s t h e r i s k o f
e l e c t r i c a l s h o c k b y p r o v i d i n g a n e s c a p e w i r e f o r t h e e l e c -
t r i c a l c u r r e n t . T h i s p r o d u c t i s e q u i p p e d w i t h a c o r d h a v -
ing a grounding wire with a grounding plug. The plug
m u s t b e p l u g g e d i n t o a n o u t l e t t h a t i s p r o p e r l y i n s t a l l e d
and grounded.
N O T E : I f r e p a i r o r r e p l a c e m e n t o f t h e c o r d o r p l u g i s
necessary do not connect the grounding wire to either
f l a t b l a d e t e r m i n a l . T h e w i r e w i t h i n s u l a t i o n h a v i n g a n
o u t e r s u r f a c e t h a t i s g r e e n w i t h o r w i t h o u t y e l l o w s t r i p s i s

e r l y g r o u n d e d ( 3 p i n ) o u t l e t i s n o t a v a i l a b l e , a t e m p o r a r y
adapter, w h i c h l o o k s l i k e t h e a d a p t e r i l l u s t r a t e d i n s k e t c h e s
" B " a n d " C " , m a y b e u s e d t o c o n n e c t t h i s p l u g t o a 2 - p i n
receptacle as shown in sketch B. This temporary arrange-
ment should only be used with a properly gounded out-
l e t b o x . C o n s u l t a q u a l i f i e d e l e c t r i c i a n i f y o u a r e u n s u r e o f
t h e g r o u n d i n g o f a n o u t l e t o r o u t l e t b o x . The temporary
a d a p t e r s h o u l d b e u s e d o n l y u n t i l a p r o p e r l y g r o u n d e d o u t -
l e t (SKETCH "A") c a n b e i n s t a l l e d b y a q u a l i f i e d e l e c t r i c i a n .
T h e g r e e n c o l o r e d t a b (r i g i d e a r, l u g o r t h e l i k e) extending
from the adapter must be connected to a permanent ground
s u c h a s a p r o p e r l y g r o u n d e d o u t l e t b o x c o v e r. Whenever
t h e a d a p t e r i s u s e d , i t m u s t b e h e l d i n p l a c e b y t h e s c r e w.
I f i t i s n e c e s s a r y t o u s e a n e x t e n s i o n c o r d , u s e O N LY a
t h r e e ( 3 ) - w i r e e x t e n s i o n c o r d t h a t h a s a t h r e e ( 3 ) - b l a d e
g r o u n d i n g p l u g , a n d a t h r e e ( 3 ) - s l o t r e c e p t a c l e t h a t w i l l
accept the plug on the product. Replace or repair a dam-
aged cord.
Note: Model IRC1136 is for use on a nominal 230 V/50
Hz circuit. The IRC1136 model has a CEE 7/7 European
p l u g t y p e .

I f t h e o v e r l o a d p r o t e c t o r s h u t s o ff t h e m o t o r f r e q u e n t l y,
you may have a low voltage situation. Low voltage can
also be suspected when:
1 . The motor does not get up to full power or
speed.
2 . Fuses or circuit breakers activate when start-
ing compressor.
3 . Lights dim or remain dim when compressor is
started.
4 . Other motor operated appliances fail to oper-
ate properly. Too many motor operated appli-
ances on same circuit.
NOTE: The motor of this compressor has a ther-
mal overload protector. If the motor should over-
heat, the overload protector will shut off the motor.
If this should occur, turn the ON/ OFF switch to the
OFF position and allow the motor to cool (approxi-
mately 5 minutes). Restart compressor. I f t h e c o m -
pressor fails to start, wait an additional 5 minutes
before attempting to restart. If this fails, check for
a blown fuse on the household electric circuits. If
the unit still does not restart, the motor must be
replaced. Call your dealer immediately.
Extension Cords:
NOTE: Make certain extension cord is in good con-
dition and is NOT LESS than 18 gauge for 25 feet,
16 gauge for 50 feet and 14 gauge for 100 feet.
